We've fallen and we can't get out.

How many of you feel as I do, that you love writing and love forums and you ask yourself - “What the fuck is this ever going to do for me?”

Kudos to those of you that have already answered that question and have dispensed with it alltogether as nothing more than a hobby, or have actually moved on and published and grown. But this is directed toward the other people.

I have no realistic education. No realistic assets. No immediate transferrable work skills. I see myself climbing in debt, in odd jobs, yammering out these little internet plays like a videogame fanatic.

Can we band? Can we utilize the skill for selfish benefit? Or at least admit to each other (where criticism is desired) whom just doesn’t have the knack and should move on? Will anyone here succeed (or have they succeeded consistently) much in their capitalist life if they simply think carefully and post? Can we generate an income where we are able to simply think and write, without worrying about leaving discussion to our monkey jobs? Or without trying to make appointments everywhere.

I’ve had similar thoughts. The first thing to say is, as long as you’re getting some form of enjoyment out of participating, and aren’t winding people up, there’s nothing wrong with it. Secondly, so what if you aren’t contributing as much as other members of “the masses” towards your national economy? Western Governments have more money than they need at the worst of times, so your contribution (or lack of) isn’t critical.

If you find yourself “living” on the web, that’s when you need to pause and rethink things. Maybe it’s for you, maybe it isn’t - only you can know.
