Its the opposite.
Its experience, despair, and decades spent alive with losing faith in humanity.
Exceptions always exist. Smart people, good people, people you look at and you know the exceed you so far that you might as well be looking at some kind of otherworldly being, but all of those are exceptions.
The rule remains the same
The larger the mass of the people, the stupider, slower, easier manipulated animal herd it is.
this seems based upon your personal experiences rather than objective reality. people often do seem stupider or more easily manipulated, but that’s how everyone else sees everyone else. what makes you any better than “them”? because if you see them as this big herd then yeah, they do seem almost brainless. but when you look at each individual person, they have their own life story and struggles and talents.
i used to relate a lot to the “losing faith in humanity” feeling as well. until i realised that so does everybody else.
The problem is that thought is a sophisticated art that takes training and discipline and devotion, never mind talent and capacity.
Most people, who are mostly just human and on the whole cool if you study them, also have a charming knack to read some tweet, adopt it as gospel, and go on super endearing forced conversion runs.
Other than psychopaths, or minds so malleable they become walking posters for whoever bought them, I haven’t found a human yet I couldn’t sit down and find a way to like.
Everything is based on personal experience.
Though i question the idea that simultaneously it cannot be also objective reality.
The two can match.
You speak of perception, but is it not an objective fact that
1.) “Intelligence” is a spectrum
2.) There is such a thing as the “average”
3.) History repeats itself
4.) “groupthink” is an actual and measured phenomena?
I never claimed i am better. I am simply aware of things that most are not.
For one, this is of no benefit to me, if anything its a detriment.
For two, there are people who stand above me in every regard. This is fact, and it does not make them narcissists.
We are all individuals. Not only does that make nobody special, but that also does not mean that we all arent on a thousand different spectrum of ability and awareness, or that there is no such thing as an “average”.
“A thousand dollars is a lot of money”
A poor and a rich person can say the exact same thing, yet mean wildly different things by it.
Do you mean like the slow-witted herd of the special breed of sheeples who helped Osho amass his fleet of Rolls-Royces? He was alleged to have 93 of them.
Sure. Afterall, if you stand out just a little, for any reason, you will all of a sudden become a celebrity and an icon.
Unless you’d suggest that there is some very intellectual and high strung mental process behind making people like the hawk tuah girl into a celebrity.
Though it would need mention that this tells nothing about the individual itself.
This describes only the masses of mentally retarded animals surrounding them. Osho did not ask to be made into an icon, neither did the hawk tuah girl, its just something retards do because thats how retards function.
There is a theory that introverts rely more on the acetylcholine neurotransmitter system for cognition, while extroverts rely more on the dopamine system.
MBTI on the other hand says that introverts are primarily oriented towards the internal world, while extroverts towards the external world.
I’ve been wondering if there could be some truth to both. Either they could be just correlated, or there could be two different kinds of introversions and extraversions. Say, I could be an ENFP who uses the acetylcholine system more (sounds about right).
i think they’re definitely correlated. i searched it up and apparently introverts also have a lower tolerance for dopamine so they don’t need as much external stimulation, unlike extroverts.
i guess then, it’s almost certainly related since with the mbti. introverts are oriented towards the inner world while extroverts towards the external, since for extroverts the external is more rewarding while for introverts it can be overwhelming.
As far as we know he didn’t. And he did say a lot of things about not seeing him as a master, etc. But the entire organization of the day was telling people he was the master and the guru. He accepted incredible wealth. Around him his organization marketed him, his books, etc as a guru figure. He went by Bhagwan until near the end.
He knew people waited for hours in silence just to get a glimpse of him organized his day around this and many other cues of power, authority and his centrality.
He could have lived differently and dropped out of the physical confirmation his behavior made every day that he was a guru, enlightened figure.
As gurus go, I kinda liked him, but we are not just what we say, we are what we do.
Just to be vaguely on topic he is usually considered by MB people to be either INFJ (Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging) or, alternatively, an ENFJ.
Yeah, he could have kept his messages to himself not taken the money, the contracts, the books. He could have told the parasites who made money off of his works to shove it, and nobody would have known about him, ever.
I get your point, and to a certain extent i agree with you, but there are a series of questions that come with that.
Does he need to be an ascetic? Does he need to refuse the money? Is it morally wrong for him to take the money? Would anyone have ever heard about him if he had not accepted how the system works?
I dont know, this makes me think of the classic censorship argument that if you have a platform you have to be reeeeeeeeeeal careful what you say and talk about cause what if someone gets motivated by your words to do something bad.
Why is that on you?
Why are other people’s actions your responsibility?
How did that happen? Are you running a nursery now? Do you have to also manage other people’s money? They want to give it to you aaaaaaand… you are the meanie if you take it.
I donno man. I acknowledge that this is a moral gray area, but it is just that. A gray area. Its pretty hard to pick who is at fault and for what here, or for that matter whether or not there is a fault to begin with.
The MBTI is based on Jungian typology. Jung used to be a student of Freud. Now if Freud taught that early childhood was all-important for the development of personality, Jung went beyond Freud by arguing for the importance of increasingly collective unconsciouses (e.g., the unconscious of the race and that of the species, in that order). Regardless, the point is that, by the time you’re an adolescent, your personality is pretty much already set, by nature or nurture or a combination of both. You can still develop your less developed cognitive functions as well as your more developed ones, but you probably won’t be able to change their order of developedness (for an ENTP: extroverted iNtuition, introverted Thinking, extroverted Feeling, introverted Sensing, in that order. And then there’s the Shadow personality).
Imagine taking this second sentence and so-called “advice” seriously.
What “ichthus77” is more or less saying here is;
'i am not going to inform you of what ‘introverted’ means, to me, but I will tell you what ‘introverted’ doesn’t mean, to me. I will also instruct you to go and look up what ‘introverted’ means “yourself”, and if you come across any definition that differs, from mine, (which i am not going to tell you what that even is), then ‘those definitions’ are not credible ones.
Could “ichthus77” come across as a more self-absorbed and self-centred human being, with an inability to even know, let alone articulate what it claims to know, while being absolutely narrow and closed at the exact same time, as well?
