me personally, i dont think it’s totally inaccurate though i don’t really know whether human beings actually have fixed personalities. people are constantly changing and it’s probably not good to put yourself in a box because it’s your “personality”.
i used to be very introverted and it sort of became part of my identity. when i realised i actually liked being around people, it felt like losing a part of myself i suppose. but thankfully i left that box lol.
(though, i still get “you used to be so shy now you’re not!” so often, so it seems people haven’t grown with me)
i still get so many comments from people saying things like “i miss when you were quiet” and it feels like they expect me to be quiet and not be as social rather than just… not speaking about it? it’s not particularly serious, just a minor annoyance but it does get on my nerves.
also after searching it up, i suppose it’d be more accurate to say i’m still technically an introvert but i’m just a bit more confident around people.
They’re just giving you a hard time because it gets a rise out of you. Play back. “Ikr, when i was quiet i didn’t have to deal w you weirdos thinkin i wanted to talk to you”.
ENFP here (or so I think). Well most people on philosophy forums will be Ns, even though we are the minority in the general population. I think the MBTI type isn’t all that fixed, for some people it can change once or twice during their lifetimes. (Also I think that a lot of people who get INFJ on internet tests, aren’t actually INFJs.)
ENFP and ENTP have Ne as their dominant function, which is really potent imo. It can see an interconnected big picture and work backwards from there. Though it’s pretty difficult to communicate it.
Tbf these tests do not really work for me cause i nearly always get conflicted by the difference in my external and internal behavior models. They are pretty stark opposites, and i always have to keep doing endless circles over questions as to how they would apply to me.
But all in all INTP-T is correct.
While emotion is a great thing if you can maintain harmony, i see it as an extreme negative in all levels of society because its always an outlet for manipulation and deflection rather than honesty or benefit. People all in all fail to use reason and logic, and its a pain to deal with it, especially since i suck at expressing myself properly
EDIT: For a magic trick you can make partial screenshots of any area of your screen by pressing windows + shift + S and then paste it anywhere with ctrl+V
For linux its… shift + print screen if i recall correctly.
Do you have a reason for saying this? Since I have done tests several times over 30 years and came out as INFJ every time, including when I did a test with a psychologist who was a specialist.
Its cause of the inherent flaws of the binary way these questionnaires are structured.
People often choose options and answers in accordance with what they want to be instead of who they really are.
The most common is for ISFJs, INFPs, and INTJs to mistype as INFJs
There are better and more filtering tests than these, which allow for a wide margin of error.
I don’t know if I was an exception, but the psychologist who was doing the test with us told me that I came across as an ENTJ, but the test revealed that I was INFJ. This meant that I had learned a role and become very believable in that role, but if the carpet was pulled out under my feet, the illusion would be revealed.
When that actually happened, it came about exactly as he had warned, and in my therapy for burnout, I spoke to a different therapist who said there was truth in what her colleague had said, even if she wasn’t a fan of MBTI.
That would require you to be able to completely objectively regard yourself and the way you interact with the world… and thats a bit of a stunt for most people.
Yeah but… psh… this is one of those questions with nothing but layers to it again.
Lets start with the simple fact that you have no universal standard.
You ask someone “are you introverted” and to answer that they would have to rely on their personal experience to answer it, which can be by all means WILDLY inaccurate cause they will most likely compare to their friend’s circle and immediate surrounding.
So instead you establish a questionnaire, where you know the definitions and standards.
You ask X questions to measure how they would act in a hypothetical scenario and that will give you a more objective view than just relying on their own understanding and measure of a concept.
2nd layer is gaming and bias. Asking someone if they are i.e. introverted might have negative or positive bias attached to it for the person, as in they want to be or dont want to be seen as an introvert due to some bias.
3rd layer is self-perception, which is near always flawed because your own motivations and actions will always make sense to you without triggering label markers.
I.e. you like solitude and the peace of not having to constantly deal with other people.
This comes to you in the form of common sense because you are avoiding stress factors and instead choose what comes to you as normal.
It would not really occur to you to label this as introversion unless someone told you specifically that it is.
4th layer is that tests can account for multiple scenarios to see different reactions and angles… and kinda on and on it goes. Pretty sure there there are plenty more reasons, but the tl;dr is that you do not want to rely on other people’s objectivity.
Ever.
Thats like trying to rely on the idea that most people have common sense or a brain.
Trust me.
They dont.
I really wish they did.
But they dont.
but also, people talking about the rest of the general populace like this has always felt off. to me, it comes off as very narcissistic lol. i get you’re like half joking but still.
