I have been asking people: When you hear the word “ethics” what do you think of? The following are some of the responses I got:
Don’t lie. Don’t cheat. Don’t put your nose where it doesn’t belong. Be honest. Be fair. Be responsible and accountable. Take responsibility for yourself rather than being some kind of parasite. Do what you have contracted to do. Aim for excellence. Give – at least – a little more than what you take. Contribute to your community. Don’t manipulate others or attempt to exert power over them.
Live well, and help others do the same …until everyone does.
Engage in moral growth with the aim of being and becoming all that you can be. Rise above temptations. Think long-term as well as short-term.
Stand up for social justice.
