In your case, I recommend skipping the first half and starting at when they arrive at Candieland.
I think Django is interesting because it’s the movie where Tarantino discovered something, or maybe finally formulated it in his mind, which is the genius of Carpenter’s The Thing (I agree with Tarantino, by the way, completely mind blowing film), and every movie after that became a tribute to it.
Hateful Eight is practically a remake.
I found it unwatchable. Most American actors are hams–there only for their pretty boy looks. No subtlety at all. There are a few that stand out and none of them are pretty boys. John Goodman. Steve Buscemi. Jack Nicholson. You can keep your Pitts and DiCaprios. Brad Pitt is the same in everything and you can tell he’s always thinking about how ‘pretty’ he is 
You should watch it again. Do what I say, skip the first half.
I can’t stand violent, cruel movies. Oddly I did like Kill Bill but that was more like cartoon violence. Too absurd to be offensive.
That was my feeling.
If you skip the first half and then stop watching when the final shootout starts, you’ll see what I mean with my table comment.

I think Kill Bill is the only one where he managed to inject actual poetry into violence. Violence told the story, and it did not give a poetic pause, it was poetic content.
This is because it was based in Hong Kong cong fu movies and that is what those do. A good cong fu movie tells its story largely through the fighting.
Really great movie, I don’t think anything quite like it has been made before or since.

Hollywood’s an evil place, especially when it comes to children. Drew Barrymore was duped into believing that ET was real to enhance her performance. She adored him, so her tears at his death were genuine and you can tell. Imagine what that does to a child. No wonder they grow up so screwed up.
In my heart, I can’t believe any child actor wasn’t abused.

Reminds me of Chiwetel Ejiofor (good luck not wikipediaing that name every time). He sort of surfed the line between prescence and subtlety. Could have been a great leading man, but he sort of made it big when Hollywood was already on the decline.
He did make one immortal masterpiece, Redbelt.
It’s interesting that Mamet seems only to be capable of making immortal masterpieces (which reminds me, I wonder if the prison movie with the kid from Transformers is already available in Canidy). So rare, an intellectual making movies. That I can think of, only Bergman. Maybe Cronenberg, but Cronenberg is a strange kind of intellectual. Eastwood flirts with the line. His movies are all intelligent, but is he an intellectual? Probably not quite.
Eastwood did make The western, on which all others shall be judged: The Unforgiven.
Well ok, not counting The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. But that’s the kind of moive that transcends the ranks of its genre.
Once Upon A Time In The West is nowhere near those two, but it did show Bronson in a role for which he was not nearly exploited enough.
