one of the fundamental questions asked by Kant, is this,
what are we to do? What should I do today? or tomorrow?
both capitalism and communism offers us small, pointless
answers to that question… in communism, we are to seek out
a “workers” state but not asking if that is indeed the point,
and in capitalism, we are seeking out wealth and power and
titles and fame… but never asking if that is really what we should
be seeking…
I hold that we can be something more then we are today…to be human
is to grow from being an animal to being animal/human (which is where most
people are today) to become fully human… (as the great human beings exists in
their becoming fully human) so, how do we go from being animal to being animal/human
to becoming fully human?
the truths that are supplied to us, such as in capitalism, communism, Buddhism,
Catholicism, cannot lead us to our becoming human… for they just deal with
the small minded question of how do we earn a living? or how do we pray?
I am interested in becoming something greater then just a “worker”, I am
interested in becoming great… what can I do today to achieve greatness
as a human being?
by not accepting the values that currently exists in our modern world…
to deny both capitalism and communism and deny the religious answers…
to seek to become something greater then I am today… to reach for
becoming human… that is what we should do… reach for greatness…
now many hold that thought to be too ambitious, to reach for the stars
and possible fail… yep, to be Icarus is our goal… to become something
greater then we are, then I am today… and we risk failure in that
overcoming… but I would rather fail reaching for the stars then succeed
reaching to become a better worker or a better consumer…
communism and capitalism thinks too small in what it means
to be human… we are trained, thought to “fly”
too low to avoid seeming to be “high and mighty” or to
exhibit our hubris… but why not? why not dare to be great instead
of going low and seeking vain pursuits of wealth or fame or power or titles?
Gandhi was great because he didn’t seek the low ground, but he sought to
reach what was seemingly impossible… the overthrow of the british empire
in India… we seek and find our meaning in overcoming tasks that
are seen as impossible or way too far above us… I say, become
Icarus and fly as close to the sun as possible…fail reaching some
great goal instead of succeeding to reach a small, insignificant goal like
a early retirement or to reach some pretend perk like a new job or
an promotion… succeed in becoming something greater then yourself…
which doesn’t mean serving the state in some fake goal like being a solider…
or a police officer… to serve means to reach higher in what it means to
be human…
so what should we do? become great…
