Where does your philosophy come from?

I am interested in how people come to think as they do or believe what they believe. Basically, how did you arrive at your personal philosophy? It is obviously a very personal thing - maybe even the most personal thing (your ego defined by your philosophy?)

Was it through years of study gradually leading you to this idea?
Was it a moment of blinding revelation?
Was it a particular incident or thing that happend to you?

I will try to explain where my ideas come from. As a young-un I was always interested in questions, I thought initially that I was interested in the answers to questions. For this reason I followed through my education as a scientist. Pretty soon after that I found that I was particularly interested in the questions that science cannot ever answer. I have now got to the stage where I am most interested in the questions themselves as I can use these to try and understand what I do not know. This has lead me here to try and understand how different people see the world. How does it differ from my view? How is it similar?

I am hoping that by agreeing and disagreeing with people with other ideas I can improve my understanding.

Classifying myself as above I would say that it has been a gradual realisation of my nature that has lead me to my current philosophy.

it just hit me i started to question everything

I have long since wondered exactly what intuition is, as it’s the one wildcard in all philosophies which in some cases, is where the logic eventually rest, or in the cases of others, where that logic is seemingly refuted.

It’s that cool feeling you get at the casino – philosophers don’t play with it because they can’t.

But I tried anyways.

It led me to many interesting places which my academic institution found absurd but I’ll take the C’s and D’s for having spoken my mind. Those fossils will understand soon enough.

The psychic age is almost upon us… or rather, we’re going to find out it’s always been there. If these psychics are such bullshit, why do people continue to go to them – why do the stories persist? The only reason people continue to disregard the small planet of evidence is because of dry old crusties, many of which are reading this now.

People think philosophy is dead now. Haha… it’s just about to get a kickstart.

From my expiriences and from reading a couple of dead people.

Well, my personal philosophy can be summarized as carnivorism and what I call ‘conflict askesis’.

Although askesis is not a new idea, and like many philosophical ideas dates back to the ancients, I have created my own ethical framework and systematic training program for it. In this system, I use the term ‘conflict’- that which counters and defies- to define all that which is conducive to askesis. Thus, conflict askesis.

Much of it is still under construction, but the foundation is there.

I developed this personal philosophy gradually. Its formation might have even started when I was a young child, as many of my current ideas are really just more complicated versions of the thoughts I had as a small boy (I’ve always been fascinated with training and discipline to make oneself stronger and more superior; better). And as I constantly learn more within the realm of philosophy, I am continuously expanding and learning in my mental framework.
