Why do I keep hearing about these films and why don't I understand them ? And why does that bother me so much that I keep thinking about these films over and over again

The backrooms obsession he man scary movie the substance and finally the ice cream man.

What do you mean ‘understand them’? You haven’t seen them. If you watched them, I’m sure you’d understand them just fine.

-> why don’t i understand them?
→ why do i do things?
My live reaction:

What on earth would make you ask someone else about why YOU are doing something?
I know this question shouldnt have broken, me. But it did. Oh it fucking did lol.

The backrooms → liminal space horror → The uncanny valley of the ordinary combined with extreme isolation and paranoia

Obsession → Transforming a positive concept such as love into it’s extreme manifestation such as control, loss of autonomy and - drum roll - obsession.

He-Man → Uncanny and gay af (not that there is anything wrong with it)

Scary movie → Basically all of the classic horror tropes

The substance → Body horror combined with having to meet an insane society’s standards which in turn causes existential horror as well

The ice cream man → Something like a child that invokes innocence, cuteness and parental instincts, trying to eat your face and kill you

Did you enjoy it?

No. I didn’t enjoy it I didn’t care for the acting I didn’t think the woman was scary and I thought the two deaths in the film that woman caused were forced when I mean Forest I mean they were trying too hard to make them scary but they came across as cheap and unrealistic and not scary especially the death with the woman in the car who got killed with the brick very unrealistic death very fake looking as well. and I thought the guys reaction was disappointing he killed himself instead he could have just simply ran away from the girl and went somewhere else or he could have killed her but instead he killed himself which is the worst out of the three options.

Goddamn I didn’t ask for spoilers, I asked if you enjoyed it. It’s bad manners to spoil me movies on the internet without warning.

Forgive me for the spoilers I forgot to mention that but after all we are on a philosophy form it would be very and I was thinking of just saying no and leaving it at that but on a philosophy form if it seems very ill-informed to just say something so simplistic without any explanation whatsoever.
