Why Do We Have Two Brains?

I have two brains so one can keep the other warm…

Must be a typo
you’re not cool
so I know you meant warn-ed

What makes any one think that having two hemispheres is the equal of two brains…Our most primtive brain is all that a fish might have for his whole…Every stage of our develpment may have its own structures, with hemisphere representing greater complexity, or perhaps the ability to see both sides of an argument…And after all that, since the nervous system is as extensive as the body, no one can say were body leaves of and brain begins…

exactly!
both within one’s self
and without

Good point!
In fact I believe every atom makes it’s own contribution to consciousness

I only wish I knew…

Wishes come true

On what planet…

What is the covert message these famous minds are sending
about the way we educate society?
If you can explain it
then you know how the brain really works.

Can you?
Do you know?

"A man’s errors are his portals of discovery.”
James Joyce quotes (Irish novelist, 1882-1941)

“Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death”
“The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education.”
“Education is not received. It is achieved."
“It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education.”

Albert Einstein quotes (German born American Physicist who developed the special and general theories of relativity. Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921. 1879-1955)

“The difference between school and life? In school, you’re taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you’re given a test that teaches you a lesson.”
Tom Bodett

“Nothing that is worth knowing can be taught.”

Oscar Wilde quotes (Irish Poet, Novelist, Dramatist and Critic, 1854-1900)

“I never completed high school and I am very rich and very successful.”

Tre Cool (American Musician member of the band Green Day, )

“Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand.”

Chinese Proverbs

“My education was interrupted only by my schooling”

Winston Churchill (British Orator, Author and Prime Minister during World War II. 1874-1965)
.

For what it’s worth…dual core processing is faster…even in computers, which are far more inferior than the brain.
The reason we make dual core processing computer brains is for faster computational processing in a logic analysis system (a computer).

Seems reasonable to think the same is true for man when man computes far more when considering how much we account for implicitly along with explicitly.

Maybe you should read my posts on the HeartStart Homeschool program

as stated there
I have eight kids of my own
all schooled via HeartStart
the lowest test score in any subject is B minus

The home environment
kitchen
workshop
home garden
back yard playground
and surrounding nature
is the most healthy school

Parents are natural teachers
the only ones who can give unvarnished personal attention
the only qualification needed
is genuine care in their children’s future
encourage them to care
to share equally and meticulously
and insist on a good chore-based work ethic

Once the kids are secure in these basic family values
and home disciplines
and the encouragement by their parents to excel in life
all kids are then naturally smart enough
and caring enough
and motivated enough
to teach themselves academically
by puberty

Now with the internet at hand
professional teachers
and state sponsored indoctrination centers
designed to produce little more than mass production line workers
are redundant

If the state spent all the billions it now spends
on artificial school system
with such dismal results
and sponsors home teaching instead
parents can get on with their real vocation in life
which is looking after their kids
and stop fucking around in corporate offices
or dying of boredom on the production line
this would not only decrease the divorce rate
but also help to reestablish traditional home-based family values
that made America Great in the first place

The economic and political benefits are sugnificant
Besides suddenly creating millions of jobs
for university graduates
by pulling millions of parents out of the job market
and getting rid of unemployment
stay at home parents
will produce a better class of self-policed citizen
with higher moral values
and far more intelligence to boot
which in turn
brings down our crippling law and order expenses

all of which is what Heartstart
and its duel brain system of creative encouragement
is all about

I have been researching the human condition for over twenty years and have also developed a theory which I am trying to publish in a book. The reason that we have two brains is because humankind needs two brains to understand how to tie shoelaces and to … :banana-dance: ](*,) . When and if you figure out how to complete this statement you should have met equilibrium and by then you may ascend, become enlightened or more simply just mature. I cannot announce my theory at this point because I have not published it and I am paranoid, but it is a biggie :-"

Curious
Do you know
which brain is paranoid?

Very interesting. I am inclined to think that we have one brain with two hemispheres. (Odd to me how much a walnut seems structurally similar to a brain. One is protected by a skull, the other a shell, fractal whorls subdivided within.)

I see some mention of other aspects of duality so hopefully this will not be redundant but I find the larger question of duality quite fascinating and even a bit bizarre sometimes. Generally speaking we have two: eyes, ears, nostrils, lips, arms, legs, testes/ovaries, lungs and kidneys and so forth. There is night and day, life and death, and complex life consisting of plants and animals as well as male and female. Plants and animals support one another’s respiration by the respective production of oxygen and carbon dioxide. Then of course in breathing there is inhaling and exhaling.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Walking home from work this evening it occurred to me to wonder if there is a term for the ongoing outward expansion of the cosmos as I can’t help but to think that gravity might be an equal and opposite reaction to The Big Bang. There are positive and negative polarities, and there are protons and neutrons and the particle/wave duality of light, summed up as wavicles. :astonished:

So there is a larger question of duality in general, and I agree that there seems to be great favoritism toward objective “truth” to the negation of the subjective when in fact I think we need and are supposed to have and operate with both.

As for dreams, I think they might be a kind of concentrated version of an experience that we go through while awake; that dreams are sort of the soup stock of experiential reality as it exists without conscious stimulation. Kind of the essence of experiential context.

If perhaps you understand binocular vision better than I, I wonder if it might lend itself to some greater clue. Has to do with depth perception. Hm. And our dualistic brains with the perception of reality itself. Without the subjective no depth/meaning, is possible. Objective is about comprehension of cause and effect and mechanistic comprehension. Knowing how things work. Subjective is about why bother and why anything and appreciation and imagination, joy and sorrow and hope and fear and bothering to face the day.

In essence I think we have “two brains” because it takes 2 to tango.

Not sure if that helps any but I like the line of thought.

Nice musings. shark
gotta add good and bad
god and devil
life would truly end up one-dimensional without that dynamic

in Zen
there is no object or subject
just is-ness #-o

Thanks MagnetMan. I think along those lines too of good and evil, God and Devil, Heaven and Hell. I am kind of conditioned to curb such thoughts by the atheist zealots. Have been dancing with atheists on another forum. Generally speaking I think they really have no rhythm.

Nice to know
not all minds are closed books
science dogma is as rigid
as religion once was
step out of line and you are labeled an idiot
you will find a few young scamps here of that nature
science goose-stepping
without any rumba :banana-dance: :banana-dance: :banana-dance:

=D> So nice to realize one is not completely isolated in this. A lot of people seem to think that the only alternatives are fundamentalist Christianity and atheism. We sound like the League of Superheroes or something by the way. Magnet Man and Thought Shark . =P

Human consciousness is a work in progress
evolving from the infant naivete of the animistic hunter/gatherer
to a future state of Cosmic transcendentalism
when our Earthly evolution completes its cycle

In each stage of conscious development
the sanity of the moment
is defined by a consensus of opinions

sanity falters
as each Age dies
entrenched customs gradually loose their dynamic
while a New Age of Consciousness struggle to be born

Thus it is
that at the start of this New Nuclear Age
as the Religious Protest of the Steel Age looses its fire
and an Age of independent self-determinism
realizes that everything is in fact inter-dependent
that randomness is not the ultimate answer
then
when more than one of us has the courage
to transcend Old Age thinking
braves ridicule
braces the dark void of insanity
sees a new light
and is inspired by new revolutionary thoughts
then shares them with another like soul
a higher state of consciousness is on its way

Some 200 million New Age Ontologists
are in agreement on this

Very nice!

Yeah
sounds melodramatic I know
yet its anything but
once you let go
and leave home
