And more importantly why do Americans think that that is a bad thing for Canada ?
They had different separation processes from the British Empire, the US a violent one. The US has a culture with more skepticism about centralized power, even that of its own government. The Canadians, with their Parliamentary government have tended to trust the government more. Americans, which for some reason means only US cits, have a self-identity as focusing on personal liberty with concerns about any control. These are broad tendencies, not rules.
I doubt most Americans don’t worry much about Canadians and bad things for them. I would guess if you explained the situation there, those big on the right to bear arms would think they are allowing their government to control them. Why can’t you have a handgun? In Canada millions have rifles. The big difference is handguns. For many Americans Big Brother is right around the corner. It could happen on a Friday. So, they would see the Canadians as not respecting themselves nor being prepared.
He’s not around the corner. He’s large and in charge.
Oh, you Trump-haters.
But for Canadians big brother is nowhere to be seen.
Many of them would differ with you on that. The Canadian Truckers - and their many supporters - during Covid, for example.
