most people would agree that their spleen, the organ, is a part of them.
Yet, most people don’t know where is it situated, don’t know what color it is, what shape, what taste, what smell, what function is has.
But when asked “Is your spleen a part of your body?”, most will say yes with no hesitation.
Now, put a piece of cardboard in front of you. You do know its position in space, its shape, its smell, texture, and you can get to know its taste. Yet, most people would say that it’s not a part of their body. Why?
When I see a cardboard, it is 100% part of my experience of reality, and I know more about it than what’s inside “my body”.
So, how are cardboards hanging around my room not a part of my body?
“you do not feel pain or death. Therefore it is not a part of your body”
Is the gum that’s numb when a tooth is pulled not part of the patient’s body?
But I’m not detracting from what you said. I agree; the experience of the self extends as far as it can be painful. Where you stop and the world starts is where you aren’t feeling pain.
A strange problem. The ketamine high. Users claim to not feel their body at all… so who are they? You’d think this is in favor of a mind/body dualism argument, but in fact, it’s an argument against it. His identity is only the feeling of his body; he isn’t seated in the body like a cartesian soul but instead exists more or less depending on the range of his sensations via the body. A guy with a numb gum is a little less of a person than a person who can feel his gum.
“Whether you are dead or alive, you need to exist to claim that you don’t exist.”
Here’s the embarrassing part. No coherent minded intellectual would make a statement like that. It’s like something a ninth grader would say when he’s talking with his pals and trying to recall some descartes he read somewhere to impress them… only to end up mangling it.
The phrase “whether you are dead or alive” has no place in the rest of that assertion and makes absolutely no sense. There is no “whether” you are dead; one can’t be dead and aware that they exist… so you wouldn’t include being dead as an option in that assertion.
Neither would you need to say “whether alive” since only while alive can one be aware.
You would simply say, “One needs to exist to claim they don’t exist”.
Just this little fact alone… that you struggle to produce a coherent statement at all is enough to suggest you probably haven’t a clue about what you’re saying or trying to say.
And bro i wouldn’t be so hard on you if you weren’t yelling at me all the fuckin’ time. And don’t go whimpering off either. Just regroup and rebuild, mate.
You can’t have life if you claim to be a misrepresentation of reality (an illusion). You are dead therefore and we know you exist because you need to exist to claim that you don’t exist.
Give up Promethean…you are wasting you time…Your philosophy, science and psychology is a complete farce.
“You can’t have life if you claim to be a misrepresentation of reality (an illusion).”
I don’t even know what that means, so i would never claim it. You might hear me saying some things are illusory but I’d never say i was a ‘misrepresentation of reality’.
That’s a really wonky phrase. Especially that ‘reality’ word because everything is a part of reality, even misrepresentations of it (whatever those may be), so my brain seizes up when i try to figure out what the phrase could mean.
An illusion is a misrepresentation of reality Promethean. You will hear many many deluded atheists claiming that everything is a misrepresentation of reality (an illusion). Its derived from their cognitively biased religious starting philosophy of +=- and -=+ that is founded upon their cognitively biased inward only consciousness searchings which has always been in around .This type of meditative practice has been rebranded by Buddhism. Its absolutely nothing new though. This explains why there’s a statue of Shiva proudly displayed outside the atheistic religious cult’s scientific HQ at CERN near Geneva.Mainstream atheistic science is totally aligned with this religion .They openly admit it.There is no secret.
The mirage on the highway is real. It’s a real illusion, and it doesn’t misrepresent anything. The fact that there is the illusion of water is just another fact about reality.
And by showing what appears to be water where there shouldn’t be, there is no misrepresenting going on because it’s not wrong or incorrect to posit an illusion. It’s just another aspect of experience.
The straw in the glass of water that looks bent because of refraction or whatever. It’s not really bent… but neither is my perception of a bent straw wrong. In fact, it’s accurate and very correct; the straw should appear bent in such circumstances, and there’d be something wrong with me if it didn’t. That illusion is very much a part of reality and misrepresents nothing.
An illusion is a misrepresentation of reality promethean..It doesn’t reflect ACTUAL reality.
It’s a LIE.
Many Many Atheist still claim that they don’t exist because they are unaware.
It’s only when they are reminded that they need to exist to claim that they don’t exist that they become aware that they exist and are liars if they claim otherwise.
They don’t possess life of course if they are a misrepresentation of reality (an illusion).
Atheists claim some very weird stuff that just doesn’t add up.
