Don’t know who you mean, here. I think turtle might be open to God, just not a “person god.” For me, personally, the concept of God is too much a reminder of the Abrahamic religions that it is difficult to use the word, even if I were, say, a deist, or even if I believed in a sort of absolutely immanent, all pervasive intelligence/power.
Pretty simple. There is a way of making progress to the good life. Submission to God, submission to reason.
