Americanism & Family Values

During their periods of expansion, of course. From Caesar to Trajan, there was nothing that you could regognise as family. A Roman family was all about internal struggle, poisonings, back biting and competition. Marriage between cousins was common, and misogyny was rife.
Across the Empire there was a plethora of religions and marriages were not always formalised.
It was so “bad” during the reign of Augustus that he tried to impose family values through the law.
However he successors were far from paragons of virtue; Caligula, Tiberius..
When family values were imposed by Christianity from the time of Constantine, we see the fall of Rome to the Germanic tribes, and Christianity promoted values not compatible with aggressive defence.
But Rome was strongest when moral were most lax.

Did you see this is a fevered dream state. I bet you really love all those “tight trousers”.

So basically exactly like America from 1990 to now.

Eventually another Augustus is going to come along and force all your trannie friends and families into moral obligations again, Scalpy.

It’s the Catholics promoting transexuality, abortions, gay rights, and all the wars…
No…it might be the chinese…

Anyone but the Jews.
So innocent, they are.
Light upon the world.
So very misunderstood and wrongly blamed for the deeds of the Chinese and the Catholics.

Mmmmmm yeup…America is fucked.
There’s no solving this much retardation.

Keep swinging Scalpy.

A relationship can be a lot like riding a bicycle. When beginning there may be some awkwardness, some crashes. But with persistence what results is priceless, forever.

Really?
Forever and ever, you say?
'Til death do us part…

With or without paternalistic limits?
So romantic.
There’s a soul mate, for everyone…out there…because humans are monogamous…and they are not promiscuous.

Half man, half goat? Wouldn’t expect much from that. Well mucho posts, certainly. Your greatest commitment is to the keyboard.

So…the answer is…yes humans are monogamous, and there’s a soul mate, out there, for everyone, and love is forever and ever, with or without ethical rules enforcing restrictions on human promiscuity?

Good to know.

Did you read the comment? With persistence, among other things, a relationship can last and can be fulfilling. Is everyone capable? Not necessarily. Is everyone responsible enough? Not necessarily.

I personally choose to be monogamous. One great lady is enough for me. Why need another? Being with a magnificent person means there wouldn’t need to be another.

I bet she feels the same way.

How does the keyboard feel?

Hmmmm…hard…wet…inviting…full of secret codes…whispering to me sweet nothings…
:worried:

Wrong thread: On Pornography

You posted the information at the beginning of the thread. You support marriage, correct? You support monogamy, correct? And by extension civilized society?

If yes, why have such a demeanor? Why hold no confidence in marriage or people’s ability to be loyal or monogamous? That very demeanor, that lack of confidence reinforces such trends in society and in other people’s minds. In other words it is part of the problem.

You should be doing the exact opposite. You should be striving for monogamy and encouraging others’ pursuit of it.

In a sense you are an extension of the same propaganda machine. You discourage family arrangement while claiming to defend it.

Yes.
I support it as necessary for civilization to emerge.

Knowing what marriage is requires an understanding of the animal it is attempting to domesticate and discipline.

I am dispelling the mysticism and the romantic idealism that is infecting western man.

Liberate the animal, and it does not adhere to your romantic ideals…
Paternalism is essential.

To put it another way…if we allow eros to dominate, then monogamy is rare, if at all possible.
If we allow agape to dominate, then it has a chance.

Passions are not good guides.
Reason must take hold of Plato’s psyche…and the steeds of passion.

I’ve offered my definitions of morality and ethics, differentiating naturally selected behaviors from human amendments…Genes/Memes

We can say that restrictions on sexual behavior is not unique to man…all social species impose such restrictions, albeit through force.
This is essential for a cooperative egroup to remain cohesive.

Man adds layers and methods to these restrictions, such as ethical rules concerning monogamy and adultery…
Man does this to make complex human societies possible - converting indifferent, disruptive, males into invested members in society.
Without these ethical rules, most males, and many females, never mate…
Paternalism is essential to govern and enforce such ethical standards, imposing upon a polygamous and promiscuous species the necessary limits required to maintain a civilization.

Romantic drivel, is counter-productive…only for the dimwits & midwits that need to believe there’s a mystical underpinning to all of it.
Romanticism was invested to convince females and males that their sexual fate was governed by something profound and mysterious.

But this is a philosophy forum…or it p0retends to be one…so reason must reign, not emotions and romanticism.

That wasn’t the point. The point, you are demeaning marriage or monogamy while claiming to defend it. Your statements and comments reinforce the societal trend that monogamy is impossible or obsolete. You affirm the trajectory.

Relationships, monogamy are not entirely about romance nor idealism. Relationships involve respect, honesty, communication, loyalty among other things. If anything you represent some cheap romantic ideal of connection.

You reference degeneracy and decline not as means of informed improvement, but almost as excuse to partake of it. You reference the worst to discourage those striving for the best.

Are the hooves on the front or on the back? How does that work? Do you type with those?
