On Monday, the Minneapolis-based attorney Chris Madel made his announcement, saying in a video online: “I cannot support the … stated retribution on the citizens of our state, nor can I count myself a member of a party that would do so.”
Donald Trump, like Madel, is a Republican. Madel expressed support for federal immigration agents’ purported original aim of deporting undocumented immigrants involved in major criminal activity.
But he said Operation Metro Surge had “expanded far beyond its stated focus on true public safety threats”.
“United States citizens, particularly those of color, live in fear,” Madel said, referring to the immigration enforcement operation, in which roughly 3,000 federal agents have been deployed in and around Minneapolis since December, reportedly carrying out thousands of arrests.
“United States citizens are carrying papers to prove their citizenship. That’s wrong.”
Madel had launched his gubernatorial bid in December and provided legal counsel to the ICE agent Jonathan Ross after he shot Good to death on 7 January while she drove away from an encounter with him.
His withdrawal comes as some Republicans in Minnesota and Washington have begun to distance themselves from the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.
This guy is providing legal counsel for Renee Good’s murderer, he’s not a bleeding heart and he’s sure as fuck not on the left. And he’s dropping out of the race because he’s ashamed to associate himself with the Republican party:
Explaining his decision to drop out of the gubernatorial race, Madel said: “At the end of the day, I have to look my daughters in the eye and tell them: ‘I believe I did what was right.’ And I am doing that today.”
It’s almost like anyone with a shred of principles can admit that this is bad, and that ICE is to blame.
Anybody ever lived in Minnesota besides myself? I think they’re second to Texas in the use of seasonal foreign migrant workers where their entire state economy depends on it to artificially keep agricultural wages low.
Without that they would be forced to hire American citizen workers and pay more in wages. That’s how the racket of foreign labor works inside the United States.

Where is any evidence ICE is detaining people without warrants? RealUn, Mr. Authoritarian, and me always put videos with evidence when we talk about ICE. Where are any videos with evidence? ICE have administrative warrants to arrest people with. The amount of valid arrests are 99.7%. Only 0.3% of ICE arrests have been unlawful arrests such as wrongfully detaining American citizens.
I’ve seen that happen, here, too.. in that instance, I wouldn’t be all up in their face though, because I wouldn’t be anywhere near them.. hypothetically-speaking of course, because I don’t go to such protests.

Two witnesses to the killing of Alex Pretti have said in sworn testimony that the 37-year-old intensive care nurse was not brandishing a weapon when he approached federal agents in Minneapolis on Saturday, contradicting a claim made by Trump administration officials as they sought to cast the shooting of a man on the ground as an act of self-defense.
One witness is a woman who filmed the clearest video of the fatal shooting; the other is a physician who lives nearby and said they were initially prevented by federal officers from rendering medical aid to the gunshot victim.
The names of both witnesses were redacted in the publicly available filings.
The right to bear arms in public has been a mainstay of the gun rights movement.
On Saturday, a Los Angeles federal prosecutor, Bill Essayli, became a magnet for outrage when he wrote on social media that “If you approach law enforcement with a gun, there is a high likelihood they will be legally justified in shooting you. Don’t do it!”
Gun Owners of America, one of the country’s largest gun advocacy groups, said in its own posting that it condemned his “untoward comments.”
The group said that “federal agents are not ‘highly likely’ to be ‘legally justified’ in ‘shooting’ concealed carry licensees who approach while lawfully carrying a firearm. The Second Amendment protects Americans’ right to bear arms while protesting — a right the federal government must not infringe upon.”
Obviously this nurse was not brandishing a weapon. Did any of you even see the videos of the scene as it happened? There are at least 4 good on site videos that were recorded live. Hint: they show him being attacked by ICE, disarmed, and then shot in the back 7 times.

All could have been avoided if Minnesota wasn’t trying to commit sedition and incite riots everyday. until ICE/SS showed up, right? Having lived there, I know that
15 degrees below zero is not very conducive to riots unless you
have a dam good reason…and that is exactly when the riots started,
once ICE/SS arrived in Minn… place the blame where it belongs,
ICE/SS… for starting the riots… Note that ICE/SS has killed
9 people in one month since they got there… and every one of them

@Peter_Kropotkin Leftists want illegal aliens in this country. That is why they hate ICE and want violent protests against ICE but they call the violent protests “peaceful” lowering their credibility even more.
