Armed Leftist Resisting ICE Shot and Killed

@promethean75

So the gun they recovered from him was fake or planted?

I remember when liberals would call everybody who didn’t agree with them in the early 2000s crazy conspiracy theorists, we have now gone a completely 180 in this timeline.

:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Another court order came down yesterday in a case where ICE failed to comply with an order to hold a bond hearing or release an individual they’ve disappeared. But the real meat of the order is where it says flat out that ICE has failed to comply with “dozens” of court orders:

This is one of dozens of court orders with which respondents have failed to
comply in recent weeks. The practical consequence of respondents’ failure to comply
has almost always been significant hardship to aliens (many of whom have lawfully
lived and worked in the United States for years and done absolutely nothing wrong):
The detention of an alien is extended, or an alien who should remain in Minnesota is
flown to Texas, or an alien who has been flown to Texas is released there and told to
figure out a way to get home.

It goes on to demand that the head of ICE appear to explain why he shouldn’t be held personally in contempt:

The Court’s patience is at an end. Accordingly, the Court will order Todd Lyons,
the Acting Director of ICE, to appear personally before the Court and show cause why he
should not be held in contempt of Court

ICE isn’t just imperfect. It is chronically violating the law and ignoring court orders.

Who, specifically? I’m not talking about random poasters, I’m talking about Trump’s chief of staff (and retweeted by the Vice President), the head of the FBI, the head of DHS, the head of the ICE operation in MN, the official DHS Twitter account. (In an unexpected twist, Trump, who usually lies as easily as he breathes, has been relatively cautious in his comments about Pretti.)

Why are these people lying if they are the good guys and they believe in what they’re doing?

No, I would not. As I said, I disagree with the current laws.

But ICE isn’t following the current laws, which include the Constitutional limits on what law enforcement can do.

They’re also not focused on illegal aliens: they’re detaining asylees and other non-citizens who are here legally and are engaging lawfully with the immigration system (e.g. people showing up for immigration hearings). This is often legal in the sense that it’s discretionary, but the law also specifies how things must be done, and those procedural safeguards prevent things like detaining legal residents and citizens.

They were, as a policy, stopping anyone with black or brown skin, or speaking a different language, or with an accent, and demanding proof of citizenship – they’ve been forced to stop doing it as an explicit policy, but many minority citizens in MN still feel targeted. The Constitutional limits ICE is ignoring also protect innocent people from the collateral damage of overzealous law enforcement.

That is the excuse? Did you see how they piled on him? It hurts and trying to get in a position where it hurts less looks like resistance? America is a shithole in my view because this was possible at all. Germany was a shithole when the Nazis took over too! But at least when Germany did it, there weren’t volumes warning against what happened in Germany!

It seems to me that the Nazis in America who tried to delay the US from aiding GB in the war now have their grandchildren keeping up their legacy. US industry supported Hitler, even Jewish Zionists are said to have supported him in the interest of a homeland in Palestine. Everyone underrated his ability to unite the military for his wars, just as everyone is underrating the fascist threat of America.

Philip Roth wrote a book, The Plot Against America, about what would have happened if Charles Lindbergh had defeated Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1940 presidential election, leading to a world where antisemitism becomes more acceptable and Jewish-American families face persecution. In that book, America fought on the side of Germany.

If this is true then ICE needs to shape up I guess. I personally think that unmarked cars is retarded. How hard is just to put some ICE decal sticker on a car? Not hard

And also with the Pretti shooting its more evidence of ICE slop and not good training.

ICE isn’t just imperfect. It is chronically violating the law and ignoring court orders.

I think that leftists chronically exaggerate ICE and make ICE’s job much harder than it has to be. Adding unneeded friction and making ICE more likely to make mistakes.

Who, specifically?

Leftists lie about everything. First Tim Walz and leftists commits Somali Fraud and runs drugs. Then call ICE “gestapo” or “SS” which is a lie. Then they said that Good was innocent and didn’t ram into ICE which is a lie. And leftists continue the lie that they are peaceful protesting when they are smashing windows, looting, committing noise violations and harassing people.

We need to deport all illegal aliens, 56% of Americans want all illegal aliens deported, and 87% of Americans want all illegal aliens with criminal records deported.

Well how are they supposed to round up illegal aliens? Because if the illegal aliens aren’t in a database then how are they able to know how to identify the illegal alien? Hence accosting random people to see if they are illegal aliens.

It’s not an excuse, I was making an observation. I agree that ICE attacked and piled onto him. I also said that his reaction to the situation is understandable.

Educate yourself on what really happened. The videos showing what happened are out there. This is not difficult.

Stop defending the unlawful killing of people by federal thugs. I don’t care how much you hate the left or how much you love your daddy Trump or how much you want ICE to get rid of illegals. None of that justifies this in any way. Call it as it really is and stop lying and making excuses. Get your head out of the sand already.

A top comment from that video which is telling,

““ICE agent shoots beaten man on the ground 10 times in the back in self defense” would be a headline too extreme for The Onion.”

Why do people these days imagine that WW11 was all about some noble cause to topple the evil Nazis and save Jews? That’s not what it was about at all. The US only got involved because of Pearl Harbour. A lot of world leaders were on reasonably friendly terms with Hitler right up until he invaded Poland. I doubt if the English gave a rat’s arse about Poland. It was just obliged to honour a promise it had made and also wanted to protect its precious ‘British Empire’ and supremacy. Fat lot of good it did the Polish people anyway. If countries like England and the US had given a shit about Jews in Germany then why did they make it so difficult for them to emigrate there? They even made it difficult for them AFTER WW11.

“So the gun they recovered from him was fake or planted?”

I have no idea. I just like conspiracy because it’s more exciting than reality, so i choose to pretend it’s happening, and then I look for ways and things that would be a part of the conspiracy I’m fantasizing about to confirm it.

I think the term “leftist” is misleading. It’s often inaccurate, as there is plenty of resistance to ICE on the right of the political spectrum as well (see again the former candidate for MN governor). It’s reductive of a diverse coalition who disagree on many other issues. And it fundamentally misattributes anti-ICE beliefs to leftist politics, when leftist politics often aren’t the cause of anti-ICE beliefs even among those on the left.

And I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to describe failing to comply with “dozens of court orders” within a span of weeks as “chronically violating the law and ignoring court orders”.

It’s funny to accuse people of exaggerating and then say this.

Minnesota’s government tried to stop payments years before the federal government got involved, flagged issues to the FBI that prompted the investigation, and 78 people involved in the scheme were prosecuted by Biden’s DOJ. At worst, the Walz government reacted too slowly, though that’s not even clear from the evidence (they were actually prevented from stopping payments sooner).

And Walz called ICE the gestapo at a college after ICE had targeted college students for their political speech. Maybe that’s an exaggeration, but it isn’t a lie.

I don’t know, but the Constitution is pretty clear that they can’t do it by “accosting random people to see if they are illegal aliens”.

There are policies that the Constitution prohibits, some explicitly and others by making them effectively impossible. If ICE can’t figure out how to do it without violating the Constitution, then they cannot legally do it.

Should I do a parody of Ice Ice Baby and rewrite the lyrics? Here’s what I got so far…

Alright drop
Get on your back and listen
ICE is back
And we’re here on a mission
Some of us are fat and unsightly
Patrolling the border
Daily and nightly
Will we find their spot?
Yo, we don’t know
Turn on the night-vision
Then they glow
Nine mexicans and a chick in some sandals
Looked that girl straight from 16 Candles…

Here’s a thread on Bluesky by a reporter following ICE cases:

The number seems high at first, but he supports it by posting a dozen opinions issued in the preceding 24 hours freeing illegally detained and removed individuals – people who were legally in the US and for whom ICE had no legal basis for detention or removal.

In many cases, the judges express frustration and revulsion with ICE conduct, not just in the way these people’s rights were violated, but in how the DOJ does not even attempt to justify their behavior, they fail to respond or respond by admitting the facts but without redressing their illegal conduct (by e.g. releasing the person they’ve detained).

It is difficult to capture how much ICE has broken the law in the past year except by reference to opinion after opinion after opinion saying as much. It only seems like it’s an exaggeration because it’s so far outside the norm.

That was my first reaction when I saw the guy. The idea that he carries a gun around is incongruous to the point of absurdity.

Why? He was a veteran. And apparently loved the outdoors. Lots of veterans and outdoorsy people are also gun owners.

‘’ Pretti was hired in 2014 as a research assistant in the clinical research program at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Health Care System’.
Does that qualify as being a ‘veteran’?
He loved cycling and hiking. Does that mean he also enjoyed slaughtering wild animals?

There are also claims that he had a ‘criminal record’. That’s most likely bullshit too. Did he even have a gun licence? What a ridiculous country.

My impression is that opinions on guns in the US aren’t as clear-cut as they’re often made out to be. The stereotypical liberal position on guns is the high-density city position on guns, and in less dense areas of the country, gun ownership is less politicized.

I went to school in rural Illinois, and around there guys you’d peg as hippie liberals would take the day off for the first day of hunting season.

Even if he did go hunting (I haven’t read that he did) having a gun for that purpose isn’t the same as wearing a hand gun when you are just going about your daily business. But yes, Americans are very peculiar and alien when it comes to guns. There has never been a single microsecond in my life where I’ve thought, ‘Gee I wish I had a gun right now’, or felt that having one would make me safer.

Fair enough, maybe he was not a serving member of the armed forces. I really don’t know, I just heard someone else say that. They could have been wrong, which is bad on me for believing that at face value (can’t recall where I heard it now), although it doesn’t matter much.

Being ganged on, shoved to the ground, disarmed, and then shot many times in the back …not sure if extraneous details like being a nurse or a veteran or not really matters. He was murdered by armed federal government thugs, that is plain and obvious to anyone with a functioning brain.

On another note, I found this amusing,

Of course it’s irrelevant, but it’s not irrelevant that people are spreading lies about them. Try telling others that though. Some thicko American on here was even saying Renee Good was ‘a terf’ as if that had anything to do with the price of fish ffs.

As an aside, so-called ‘terfs’ are constantly referred to as ‘extreme righ-wing radicals’, so I wonder how he reconciles that with her ALSO being a ‘left wing extremist’ Apparently knowing what a woman is, is something only the ‘far right’ know.
These people are nuts.
