Quantity & Quality
Like beauty is an intuitive evaluation of symmetry, and the requirement - imposed by chaos upon order - of proportionality, indicating resistance to change and adaptive potentials in reaction to the unforeseen.
Physical symmetry/proportionality is called beauty.
Mental symmetry/proportionality is inconspicuous and so can only be evaluated indirectly - taking account of the mind’s ability to imitate and to deceive.
Mental symmetry is perceived as intellect - pattern recognition - and mental proportionality is perceived as demeanour, charm, humour.
Obsession is to Mind what addiction is to body.
Life experiences existence as need/suffering.
Need = lack, due to the continuous loss of energies caused by interactivity - flux, i.e., existing.
Desire = excess of energies accumulated due to the successful satisfaction of needs. Mind experiences this excess as ennui.
These excess energies are directed towards self-maitnenance - correcting temporal attrition - growth - and then reproduction - first through mitosis and then through synthesis (heterosexual reproduction).
Fight/Flight mechanism adapts to reserve said excess energies to increase survival potentials using a sudden burst of energies kept in stand-by - stress is how it is experienced.
In man these excess energies - named libidinal - can be directed towards art, creativity…externalization, expunging, via a medium.
Two types of art = recreating/representing, simplifying/generalizing the existent, and the expression of the creator’s reactions, feelings, towards the existent.
Emotion = automatic, spontaneous, reactions to stimuli - interactions - facilitating the efficiency and therefore effectiveness of an organism’s reactions.
Two forms of obsession/addiction, dealing with lack and excess, respectively.
Therefore, the individual becomes obsessed/addicted to what numbs or intoxicates the sensation of lack, or the sensation of unfulfilled excess.
The type of obsession/addiction revealing which type is affecting the individual.
Both obsession/addiction is defined as a need/desire that preoccupies the individual to the detriment of all other needs/desires. Being possessed by a particular need/desire to the point of mania, exclusive focus over prolonged periods of time, or indefinitely.
Need/Desire dominating the mind.
Art/fArt exposes the particular need/desire as this is determined by a specific organ hierarchy. A particular organ, or combination of organs, imposing their particular needs/desires over the others.
This is revealed via fArt, as it is the externalization of a psyche’s reaction to reality through the lens of its needs/desires - will focusing on creating a representation of energies spontaneously emerging from within - esoteric - and overwhelming those collected from without - exoteric.
As such fArt is always an expression of excess, ungratified desires, expunging repressed energies - an orgasmic splattering of not fully digested - processed - abstractions.
Quantity is used to compensate for the absence of quality.
We see this in obsessions with pornography and sexual addictions.
