Pretty decent. Except that the universe is expanding only in the sense that the mean spatial distance between ideal points in the large-scale structure of the universe is getting larger. This is a gravitational effect mediated according to general relativity, so within gravitationally bound structures, such as galaxies or galaxy clusters, we do not find expansion.
General Relativity is disproved by including the walls of my room into the confines of the universe.
If the universe actually was expanding, like theoretical physicists lie to us and make us believe in, then the walls of my room should also be expanding on some quantum level. What I mean is, we could make a scientific measurement, a very powerful microscope, and measure this. If the walls of my room are growing by .00000000000000000000000000001^1000000000000000000, then General Relativity might remain true. But it’s not. The walls of my room are not expanding or shrinking. They are remaining local, unmoving, not growing longer or shrinking shorter. This should be obvious.
Thus the same laws cannot become applied to universal laws and constants. The rules must change because there is an error in the reasoning.
i struggle to discern sincerity from sarcasm, but assuming the former i must point out that the expansion could easily be on an imperceptible scale, such that any measurable difference might not be seen until hundreds of generations of your descendants have lived and died within those walls. do you rent? i would consider buying, centuries from now that might prove a wise investment.
When I rent, the walls in my room expand. When I buy, the walls in my room shrink. In one trillion years, I will have lost or gained a couple inches of drywall.
Oh yeah, General Relativity is complete bullshit, and anybody who buys into it is a complete moron. I have some prime real estate to sell you.
Lol. I can now picture a universe where everything is expanding, so it all looks the same size all the time… hence no expanding universe. In lookingglass world Alice would always be just the right size and everyone in every world, fictional or otherwise, would live happily ever after.
jonquil, the negotiator of happy endings for everyone expanding or not expanding
The universe is expanding, I am expanding, and my measuring tape is expanding. I am growing larger, and the measuring tape is growing larger, but nobody believes me!
HELP, QUANTUM MECHANICS!!! HELP, GENERAL RELATIVITY!!!
My mind is expanding as I read these posts, yet in the final analysis it’s always been the same size. Of course my mind doesn’t have a size, but then neither does the universe?
The expansion of the universe is irrelevant to the overall size of the universe. Indeed, the standard theory of the expansion of the universe assumes that the universe does not have a boundary.
Drat. I guess that means that things inside the non-bounded expanding universe still have bounds and sizes. Uh oh, that means it’s back to the treadmill for me, such a bummer after thinking that I would never have to worry about getting fat.
Psybang didn’t contend my point. In fact, right after we suggested that there is no SIZE to the universe, he just made the statement that it is “irrelevant to the size of the universe”. See how he thinks of the universe in terms of size??? We JUST pointed out that the universe has no size, and he then his mind cannot comprehend it.
I know it is difficult to grasp. You need to reconsider what you once deluded yourselves into believing, as children, by physical theoriest LIARS!!! They lied to you. They lied to me too. They offered THEORIES, not certainty. The THEORY WAS that General RElativity was true, but it’s simply not anymore. This solution I just offered is pretty simple and straight forward.
If we include ourselves as part of the entire universe, then WE must be expanding too. But this is nonsense. I don’t expand. The measuring stick doesn’t expand. If they did, then nobody would know anyway. So it is all heresay and metaphysical mumbo jumbo coming from physical theorists who think they know what they actually don’t. It’s all rather simple, when you view it as I do.
The walls of my room are local. They do not EXPAND or SHRINK. The same can be said of entire galaxies. See, isn’t it awesome what I just did??
Yeah, it’s so awesome that you took a pop science claim, “the universe is expanding,” and with no knowledge at all of general relativity you decided exactly what that pop science claim was supposed to mean for the genuine science.
I’m sorry to destroy your dreams and burst your bubble of science, my good friend. Perhaps science is not the answer you should be seeking, but God instead???
