Oh no, someone asked you to express your thoughts! What a terrible thing to happen on a philosophy forum! How dare they ask you to express yourself and your ideas! You should be allowed to post thoughtless memes to your heart’s content, after all isn’t that what philosophy is about? Thoughtless memes and images?
Grow up. If someone asked me to express my thoughts more, I’d take them up on it, not whine about it.
I was chastised by Carleas for the drama that the Taylor Swift fan who likes getting aggy with me has been causing for months on end.. me, the one being victimised, being blamed equally for another’s atrocious behaviour when the moderators are the ones that are allowing it to go on.
I asked you to edit your op within the hour. I didn’t ask you for a response. I didn’t want a response, I wanted you to write an op that contained your thoughts.
Just in case you feel you’re being mistreated, let me make it clear that you are absolutely not the first person to be asked to post your thoughts. Multiple users have been suspended because they were told to post their thoughts, not just memes and images and quotes from other people’s articles, and they refused not just once but repeatedly.
Other users have been asked to write their thoughts and then they said “oh, sure, I will”, and there was no problem.
You aren’t being singled out. This is a philosophy forum. People are here to talk about what they think with each other. You aren’t being mistreated by being asked to share your thoughts.
And what I mean by “share your thoughts” is actually pretty broad. Having a thought of, “I’m not sure what to make of this, I’m curious what you guys think” is thought enough. You don’t need to write an essay or have a fully formed idea. But you do need to write SOMETHING.
You say, “I offered no commentary because it was unnecessary”. In a world of rational individuals, that would be true. As evidenced by the large numbers of Trump supporters - which evidently is a majority in the US - this isn’t a world of rational individuals. Without commentary from you, it is not possible to reasonably to conclude what your position is.
I’m not sure what to make of this, I’m curious what you guys think.
The original post was titled: Mr Trump’s hemisphere - the wild west.
I’m thinking it might be a reference to the Presidents brain?
And then I’m thinking, is it wise to give a man with just half a functioning brain a job that carries with it the title, ‘worlds most powerful person’? Such a man, handicapped as he is, would demonstrate a complete disregard for the Truth. Such a man would likely demonstrate a complete lack of empathy for others. Such a man would display a narcissistic personality. Such a man would think himself above national AND international law. Such a man would be a bully. Such a man would forever be thinking of ways to gain more material possessions. Such a man would employ groups of heavily armed, masked thugs, to carry out his dirty work. Such a man would be an existential threat to mankind. Such a man would be dangerous.
Just a thought. Thinking can be such fun.
The original post also carried the attached picture.
I agree with FJ. You aren’t being singled out and it’s not personal, we regularly reject or remove posts that are just images and links. Nor is your post the worst offender in that class, but it’s still the kind of low-effort, no-context post that the policy is meant to discourage.
It’s not asking a lot to request that when you make a post, you express something in your own words.
“This is a link to ____, at which you’ll find _____.”
“I’m sharing this because _____.”
“This screenshot is relevant because _____.”
“This state propaganda meme makes me feel/think/ask/believe ____.”
This is a forum intended for written discussion by and between our users. The ability to post links and images is intended to augment and supplement those written conversations, not to replace them.
There are plenty of websites where you can post images and links without context. This isn’t one. Simple as.

I heard an interesting comparison earlier today, comparing the shooting of Renee Good to that of Ashli Babbitt, Democrat and Republican.. but one was trying to kill someone, the other wasn’t.
.
I did exactly what you did.. posting videos and images along with a sentence, thinking that others would/could comment on them, but ‘fat chance’.
That’s all fine and good. Just don’t be some kind of left-wing MagsJ. Let the right be the crazies and try to wriggle their way out of things like this.

Paid protesting should be made illegal.. such protestors are extremely aggressive and very very crazy.. I’ve come across many here in the UK, and they will not hesitate in being threatening and abusive to anyone right of their Leftist Socialist Democratic ideals.
