… and it wouldn’t (always) be the direct effects of monotheistic belief that destroys precious life everywhere, but the effects of other processes that result and are put into practice according to a belief that is false, a religious belief. An example would be christianity in the west and how it has become a cornerstone of the free market and conservatism, defending these things on grounds that are simply false; equality before god, equal opportunity, natural rights, property rights… none of these things exist independently of a man made social contract.
The monotheism/capitalism dynamic duo is an SEUS… a socioeconomically unstable strategy.
Anywho what happens as the aggregate effects of all these false beliefs stabilize a society and shape it accordingly, a wealthy ruling class of property owners emerges which then uses the false beliefs to further sustain itself and its property, and the people become acclimated to that kind of society… are taught that it shouldn’t be changed (conservatism), and can’t imagine life being much better than it is for them.
There are many meaningful ways the phrase ‘self equals other’ can be used, verified, confirmed… and there are many ways the phrase is meaningless or certainly false.
In the ways u infer with its use, the phrase is almost certainly false.
People can be of roughly equal weight, talent, have equal assets, an equal score, and equal number of toes or gold fish, be about equal in their views, etc., but none of these equalities are metaphysical or ethical in nature. And it’s precisely these two kinds of natures that u evoke when u claim people are of equal value, equal importance, should have equal rights, etc.
We all have values and we all have goals, we are all purposers, we all have a hunger for meaning. We can see that in each other. Even psycho/sociopaths see it. That’s why they can take advantage of people. They take advantage of that “part” of them.
This Marxist abolishment of religion is really just a historically situational situation. Back in those days, it was difficult to rally the peasant and working classes becuz most of em were religious scaredy-cats who too easily submitted to their own misery and didn’t wanna stir things up. Nor did they need to, they thought, becuz it’s either a) all in god’s hands, or b) they musta deserved the hand they were dealt (calvinism, predestination, etc.)
The only concern here was that religion was propagating the spread of aristocracies and monarchies (and later capitalism) all over the world, and it was preventing revolution.
Realistically speaking tho, imaginary ideas don’t necessarily hurt anything, and it’s perfectly conceivable that religion still exists in a modern marxist society.
In other words, as long as the people doing the work in society own and control the means of (their) production, it doesn’t matter what they believe.
We’re not reading the same stuff that Marx wrote. Why does no one ever get correctly represented? Start at the first sentence, Add satire & writing over gang tags.
So apparently Miss Harris is touting Nazi slogans now?
The more aggressive attitude toward religion was adopted by the leninist branch of marxism, while Marx only wrote polemically against religion.
The marxist-leninist view is that religion plays an active role in the exploitation of the working class (through its institutions and how it structures society) while Marx’s view was a little more passive and investigative. Marx was doing psychology when he wrote about religion and its effects… and a big part of his view on religion was inspired by Feuerbach’s ideas, another great psychologist.
Hamas is there. Palestinian noncombatants and their homes are collateral damage to them. The genocide in Gaza illustrates dark side of the American empire.Israel has always held a pivotal position as a chest piece on the middle eastern hegemony with its big oil. Then too, there is a very powerful Israel lobby in the US, which is a big player in the upcoming presidential election. There is a growing muslim lobby in America as well. It’s a struggle between allegiances in America. I pray for peace and work for peace. Even a “Unity Party” if one existed would negate itself by being another division.
