Illegal to Boycott Israel?

The statements of this lawyer aren’t very accurate, and he said he was applying for political asylum preemptively, not because he is being persecuted now, but feels he will be (whatever that means). This last part quoted caught my eye.

I’m a big first amendment advocate, and I know the Arab World certainly aren’t the ones outlawing boycotting Israel. I know France and the Netherlands and Belgium are antisemetic, and do allow for the boycott, they’ve been doing this for some time.

So I’m left to ask… who is outlawing the boycott of Israel? I’m aware holocause denial isn’t allowed across much of Europe, but wasn’t aware personally boycotting goods was banned in places too. What fucking country outside of Belurus even has that sort of do from over both speech and your economic choices that it can monitor what you buy and nab you if your not buying enough Jewish goods?

The only country formerly allied with the Nazi empire is Sweden (only Axis Government left in the modern world unconquered, and I am fairly certain they allow this boycott, and even if they didn’t… how would you know?)

I’m wondering if it was the same states that were banning any comments on social media sites involving the Syrian refugees migrating through Europe that didn’t fit the governments bottom line are also doing this.

In the US, while during Obama’s reign there have been some scary First Amendment violations on his part, we for the most part lack the ability to enforce such concepts as outlawing boycotts… IRS and Homeland Security would need a massive budget and manpower influx to start combing the records, we would have to pay close attention to port authorities to see where shipments we’re going, and look at bank statements to see who is buying, and who isn’t, and even if a judge cared to overlook the first amendment, it would be very hard to convict cause maybe the person just… never desired anything on the market from Israel (I doubt I own anything). Not even a boycott, I just have never been tempted to buy anything Israeli made, I would be more than willing to if they ever made anything worthwhile, at the right price, and got it to me.

I’m just thinking this is highly impractical in anything save a totalitarian state, and in a state with freedom of speech USUALLY guaranteed (unless Obama doesn’t like a reporter) you can say whatever you want. Judge doesn’t care. Judge furthermore usually doesn’t care what you buy beyond interstate commerence. Obamacare changed the meaning of the constitutional clause, so maybe they can force you to NOT boycott a country someday (you will buy these Irish buckets of rocks or some bullshit), but how they can prove without a massive regulatory regime in place is beyond me.

What countries are banning the boycott? How do they manage to do this? Are they western?

The US should be placing sanctions on Israel. Boycotts would be pointless as the OP points out (inbetween its ranting pablum and various insulting non sequiturs about Obama - for which insults the OP was, of course, a thinly veiled excuse). But as Triple-H correctly suggests, anybody who dares even imply any action Israel takes is deserving of sanctions, let alone any politician who has the gumption to suggest that we actually put such sanctions in place, would immediately be pilloried and blacklisted as an anti-semite, Nazi, terrorist sympathizer - EVEN IF THEY THEMSELVES ARE JEWISH! Even funnier is the cynical opportunism of American conservatives who would be first to join the chorus of politically correct attacks on anyone who dares criticize Israel and it’s various zionist factions, despite the long and continuing legacy of discrimination against Jews perpetrated by the very same right wing in this country (particularly by Christian conservative factions of said right wing). The interesting thing is the reason why they are so quick to join in on the specious accusations and slander leveled against critics of Israel: it’s NOT because they regret or feel guilty about the antisemitism they themselves have displayed and perpetuated in America for centuries, but rather because of the strange bedfellows politics make. To wit: the right wing in this country depends on the Christian conservative demographic for its political survival, power and influence, and among the many fantastic, cherished delusions of Christian conservatives is the belief that the land of Israel must remain free from the evil influences of Muslims and other brown folk in the Arab world in order for the so-called “Rapture” to occur as predicted in the Bible (and popularized within the fundamentalist Christian conscience by the much beloved Left Behind series of best selling novels from a few years ago). So, as long as Israel remains safely in the hands of the Jews, the right-wing mega-church zombies in the US can sit idly by in good conscience while Israel engages in all sorts of tremendous atrocities (many of which rival if not exceed the US’s own imperialist horrors) knowing that it’s all part of God’s plan for their own personal salvation.

Then of course, there is the Israeli lobby in Washington DC, which approaches the NRA in it’s indomitable iron-fist grip over Congress. Said lobby is just as responsible for the persecution of politicians and intellectuals critical of Israel, but they are, at the same time, at least open about their intentions as opposed to being motivated by the cynical hypocrisies that fuel the Christian Right.

The first rule of it being illegal to boycott Israel is that we don’t talk about boycotting Israel at all as that is illegal and very deeply antisemitic.

Israel is our greatest middle eastern ally, the birthplace of Jesus Christ, and a shining democracy example to all around the world. We simply don’t talk about such things in the United States, it is very forbidden to do so. Damn, it’s like people want the ADL Jackboots called on them or something. This is why we call it forbidden conversations you guys, for that very reason. Isreal has practiced war crimes. It’s genocidal policy is continuing to slaughter, not only tens of thousands of civilians , but specifically targetting journalists, health care workers, and aid workers.
It is not in the slightest bit antisemitic.
Neither is it illegal. Any law that says it is - is itself illegal.
