Insanity is a disconnection form reality…I’ve described a philosophical/ideological movement that linguistically fabricates all sort of insane escapes from reality.
insanity is how the ego protects itself - and nihilism is defensive in its motives.
Insanity is a break from reality - a shattering, but sometimes it is intentional, willful, even if subconscious.
It has made a choice: see existence as it is, or survive, as long as possible, within it.
The insane mind cannot know it is insane, nor admit it.
IQ and awareness are not evolutionary objectives…evlution’s only rule is “adapt or die” and if going insane is a way of adapting, then the means to an end.
As I’ve noted elsewhere, philosophy is not for everyone.
Some of the greats either went crazy, after practicing it, or did insane things to endure existence.
Objectivity is the source of this threat - third-person perspective …or as Schopenhauer defined ‘genius’ - ‘will-less knowing’.
Denial of self is a means that becomes, for the insane ones, a pleasant end.
It’s how I’ve defined the difference between Hellenic & Abrahamic, or nihilistic, asceticism.
For Hellenism it is a means; for Abrahamism it is an end.
Reducing the impact of ‘will’ on one’s perceptions and judgements… determining one’s choices.
Will driven by need/suffering, and by desire.
The two pinnacles of stress: one from lack and the second, byproduct of the first, from excess.
Stress or Ennui.
When body is stressed, mind is engaged, focused, in a state of care.
When physical stress subsides to comfortable, pleasant, levels - called contentment - then the mind suffers the consequences of its energy surpluses, as boredom.
Libidinal anxiety/stress, product of sexuality, is a form of excess energies pressuring the mind to be expunged.
This, too, is a state of hormonally induced madness.
Now, from there we can go further and distinguish insanity that is determined by some kind of genetic dysfunction, or psychosomatic trauma - shattering the psyche in parts to compartmentalize its suffering - or it is self-induced, intentional, motivated by a desire to protect the ego form the implications of what it cannot endure.
In nature insanity leads to a quick end…but in sheltering human systems insanity can be self-induced and protected…even promoted as a mass coping mechanisms that also facilitates centralized control, mass manipulation and exploitation.
Moderns/Postmodern can afford to go insane because the collective is there to protect them from the consequences, and insanity has become the new norm.
Would not sanity be the weird one in an insane asylum?
