Music Thread (hear music here!!)

and i almost forgot Stereolab, you guys might have heard of them. they play songs with names like Kyberkinetic Babicka
the singer is awesome.

they also have a radio section of their site, where they made some compilations of their favorite music and you can listen to it.

and for all of you that don’t know about this…

there is an annual music & arts festival, and they have awesome bands play there (although its becoming a bit mainstream), and its a great time if you like camping and music (and also alot of drugs, for some people).

its called Bonnaroo

check out the artist lineup and tell me if you like any of those bands

Right now I can’t stop listening to Gnarls Barkley

myspace.com/gnarlsbarkley

So who is Gnarls Barkley? Diligent pen pal to Bangs, soul giant Isaac Hayes, and Violent Femmes ringleader Gordon Gano? Well-kept romantic consort to pop stars Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson? English teacher to synth-rock legends Kraftwerk? Croupier at a mysterious annual gathering in the Bay Area that allegedly draws members of the Wu-Tang Clan and Britian’s Stuckist art collective? It seems that, in the music world, Gnarls Barkley is always nearby yet impossible to find. The membership rolls of both the Atlanta hip hop collective Dungeon Family and Athens, Georgia’s psychedelic enclave Elephant Six list Barkley as an affiliate, but mention him to either group and they’ll shoot each other frightened looks and start talking basketball. The rumors fly hard in every direction and remain defiantly unverifiable.

“You are the best. You are the worst. You are average. Your love is a part of you. You try to give it away because you cannot bear its radiance, but you cannot separate it from yourself. To understand your fellow humans, you must understand why you give them your love. You must realize that hate is but a crime-ridden subdivision of love. You must reclaim what you never lost. You must take leave of your sanity, and yet be fully responsible for your actions.” -Gnarls Barkley, in a letter to the legendary rock critic Lester Bangs

slow and beautiful.

who will deliver!?!? :evilfun:

I love Natalie Merchant, although truthfully I liked the Maniacs better, but not by much. I thought their Unplugged set on MTV was tremendous.

If you like Sigur Ros you will probably like Jose Gonzalez

If Natalie Merchant / folk rock is your thing, maybe you will like the acoustic folk sounds of Gabby Young

music is to me what philosophy is to ILP

yeah they’re pretty good, for cartoon characters.

If you want bouncing European Techno, why not check out Hixxy? That’ll get your blood moving.

di.fm has a wide variety of that kind of music.

sexy lil’ site

This is slightly off topic but I think most guitar lovers will find this young dude pretty amazing.

youtube.com/watch?v=QjA5faZF … =1&t=t&f=b

damn is that real?

that kid is awesome at guitar.

this sounds like something out of Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure

I actually found the guy who (apparently?) did the original prog rock interpretation of Pachelbel’s Canon in D Major – JerryC.

This dude has the ‘X’ factor where the first one, while technically very good, seemed to lack in the emotion department.

Check out the difference in passion and attitude.

Go Jerry! Go Jerry! Go Jerry!

zippyvideos.com/1801942903030756/jerryc-cr/

yeah this guy more hardcore

both kids are amazing at guitar though, considering that they crunched out crazy riffa for like 10 minutes.

“Acrux’s music is for those who are aurally bored, longing for sounds that engage on mental, even subconscious levels. This used to be called ‘progressive’ music.”
