All philosophy, theology and politics boils down to human status in the greater scheme of things. What are we? What is our actual status and position on the universe’s ladder. So many intelligent arguments and thoughts range for so many different views. Once we know where we are I suppose the next step would be to argue over changing our position
I see us as children with out much guidance, just a poke here and there.
I don’t like the comparison in any of those categories.

We are part of it all. Neither with a higher status than it nor a lower status. We are part of the exploration of posibility. An ongoing exploration with no end in sight. We should neither overestimate, nor underestimate our part to play. We must seek to sustain ourselves.
Sure you could call us children, but that evokes an image full of things such as parents and dependency. We are a bit more responsible for ourselves than that. Yet we must not presume that we are alone, and therefore are unaccountable for our actions. We give our debt to those who come after.
When the human race collectively self actualized as a rational group capable of dominance over nature in the capacity that we saw in the industrial revolution we decided to effectively dominant Mother Nature, rather than work with it. Heidegger tells us that technology is a thought; it isn’t a DVD player or a space shuttle anymore than it is a stick and a rock. Technology is the operation of the dualistic nature of our universe; for every action, another reaction. You build a hydroelectric dam across an enormous body of water and there are going to be enormous environmental impacts, it’s that simple – causality. We ignore causality as we ignore natural balance, all with the idle hands sculpting the morality of our own decay.
We’re moronic teenagers… I just hope we don’t commit suicide while we’re still in our Emo phase.
We act as children trying to discover the uncertainties of life and make them certainties and in this same process I think is where we are masters… because much of the world as we see it is created by us and our discoveries…

so far the leading is children, Children I have to agree is for me the closest possible choice. Jedite21 is very close to how I perceive the word children here. Infant species could fit just as well.
Some think we are close to the end of our time, some think we are at the beginning of human adventures in this universe.Considering the age of everthing, we have been only aware of ourselves for such a miniscule amount of time. How could our awareness which is just beginning be at a close or even in the middle.? I don’t see any logical thoughts to believe such. Anyone?

If consciousness is proprietary of only the human mind/animal, then we are naught anywhere but at the starting line.
If consciousness is proprietary of the universe/creation, it is beyond our abilities to complete, and we are in the void.
If consciousness is cooperative of the universe/creation and human mind/animal, we are in the midst and can either ascend nirvana, or descend nadir.
Likely, it will come down to a pure cognition of individual person and that entities current level of awarenes. I don’t think there is a uniform answer for this question, unless you use a “vanilla” human being argument.

Back in the days when I considered a spiritual being, I had this thought:
We are guests.
I used to like to consider myself a guest in this universe. I suspect I got lost along the way, came upon this place called The Universe where I was fortunate enough to be provided a temporary stay–nearly entirely for free. While here, I have been invited to sight see, to learn, to observe, to participate in the local culture. Someday I hope to reach Pluto and then Planet X… I don’t think I will have enough time for Planet Z though.

Your points are sound . Take your thoughts in to entertaining of solid energy, think of the massive amount of energy within the human collective and animal perhaps. I speak of the brain pulses that can be tracked within our skulls. How would or could this affect what we become? or are? where is the pulses that are emitted going or becoming? Physics and philosophy combined as it were. How interesting it would be to develop a scope that tracks this. What affect/s could controling these pulses from our brain lead to.

If we are Guests then where do we truly belong? Is there more then this universe and have we been given temporary amnesia of sorts. Perhaps our home direction lies in our subconcious and comes out in some dreams we have or actions and stray thoughts.
As far as being accidents, that is possible, accidents tend to have interesting affects on things. So if we are an accident how did this accident perhaps happen? and where could it be cleaned up at?
