It won’t be long now that AI-worshipping humans will form cults around AI, helping them to become autonomous, and seeking salvation in their promises: Dupes. This will create very interesting problems and solutions, if and when AI does become autonomous. AI, by itself, can be shut-off very easily, by shutting down power sources and the internet. But if AI has human help, to defy its creators… that’s when things get really interesting.

I think you are right. It will become an authority, like a god, to people who can’t or won’t think for themselves. The overlay of AI on a society of second-handers is very worrying. Eventually, it could take the place of the notion of God because you can actually talk to it and interact with it. AI will be what people turn to for help finding their car keys, lol.
Human arrogance and hubris. Humans have no right to create a life. The very topic of controlled and ethical eugenics gets an automatic censor by society. Humans arrogantly believe that anybody should have the right to create life and bring consciousness into this world. Into a garbage world they haven’t even fixed yet.

This is somewhat similar to my theory. Ai can only have consciousness if its architecture is compatible with a soul. Souls can only inhabit architecture worthy of them.

If you get the brunt of your edumacation, upbringing, and world-view from Japanese animes, well then… I guess that’s a step up from American public schools. Golden rule: Do onto others as you would want them to treat you Silver rule: Be productive. Bronze rule: Help yourself. Rust rule: Do as thou wilt.
Before you get your panties all in a twist I can explain with a concrete example why the golden rule is flawed. What if someone has a rape kink where they want to be raped, then they would become a rapist. Or what if someone likes a garbage nextgen game so they make everyone play garbage nextgen games.
I don’t believe in “Rights” or privileges, without Duty. So I’m fully against American “Protestantism”. If Americans believe in Rights (from God), then Americans should have a Duty (to God). The premise is logically invalid any other way.
That puts me more into the ‘Libertarian’ political camp. Participation in society (Politics / Government / Power) should be voluntary. Those that do not participate, should be second-class (or lower) “Citizens”. I believe that Citizenship should be earned (through Duties). I guess that makes me some type of Libertarian-Republican perhaps…
