You can place you body in an environment where it is damaged. You can do things which break your body.
The soul is no different. The things which damage the soul are not physical objects.
but if the body is not healthy how can the soul be saved
A healthy soul can be in a diseased and dying body. A sick soul can be in a healthy body.
The soul is saved by proper care and feeding. What Christians would call the word of God.
What is a soul? Is it an entity imprisoned in a body? (Plato) Is it the psyche? Is it synonymous with spirit?
Energy and consciousness confined in a physical manifestation.
These can be qualities of persons we might consider soulless.
The body is the ship, the soul is the sailor.
