Nah, he’s totally not. The universe is totally cool with you thinking you can fly and jumping off a bridge.
How could you not know that’s what he must mean? Or did you know that’s what he meant and you do think the universe cares if you jump off a bridge? I dunno, I’m aksing.
p.s. the mom stuff is just for the State’s record (a circumstance that I must suffer and articulate for the purposes of the State’s understanding so I don’t have to answer a bunch of stupid questions if I’m apprehended) and for entertainment. The philosophical importance is to provide more evidence for the nonexistence of the christian God. I know most immediately that there is no god by observing my own moms. If I can convey this reasoning to others I might help them improve their understanding of the world.
World is a term that refers to EVERYTHING in existence, as perceived and interpreted by conscious life forms (subjective)…..or it can be used to refer to EVERYTHING that exists, whether or not a consciousness perceives it (objective).
Perception is not required for existence…..but it is required for life to exist.
The utility of words, representing concepts, is willfully determined…..the effect of actions, based on these willful definitions, are not willfully determined, moron.
Your errors in judgement do not affect the world….but they do affect your fate.
Ideas have consequences that ripple out and don’t stay local to just yourself. You don’t exist in a bubble separate from the universe. And you yourself matter. Ideas ripple inward, too. You think you’re off the hook just because you isolate (hoard) yourself? You think quarantining yourself is a believable excuse? You’re just trying to get out of real work.
Ideas disconnected f4rom reality only affect human being who are fooled or seduced by them.
They have no effect on reality.
Language magic has a range of effect, moron….it is the quantity and spread of people who speak the language and can be affected by it….and their actions affect the world…..but the words themselves have zero effect no the world.
So, humans are proxies through which language can be be used - politically - to manipulate what exists…..and still it is minor considering expanses….
Space can be thought of as an expanding field of possibilities - Big Bang.
Matter, or order, or patterns, can be thought of as probabilities within this expanding field of possibilities.
Language - semiotics - can be thought of as a multiplier of probability, only able to have an effect through those who are traiend to respond to its symbols in predictable ways.
You don’t live in reality Silenus….you believe that everything is a misrepresentation of it (an illusion) remember….lol…….You don’t know what reality is because you don’t know what life is….so cut the nonsense. You are hilarious.
What does spirit look like? … full … satisfied hearts continually asking, seeking, knocking for more.
Jesus would’ve made sense to the Plato-prepared Greeks when he focused on life, fruit & not just the temporary APPEARANCE (fake fruit that will burn out eventually). Sophist politicians/clergy… nothing has changed.
Other side of the same coin: Socrates & Kierkegaard & Jesus all emphasized actually DOING being the real KNOWING.
(How many times are we flipping this coin? Is this the edge of the coin?) All… like Paul… said all factoid knowledge and skill (DOING) empty of love (not just a mood/itch you’re scratching… not just from an ABSENCE/LACK) completely misses (is devoid of) the Point (the fullness).
It’s kind of weird that Nietzsche painted forgiveness as revenge when other (more sane, but still wrong) people paint forgiveness as an injustice because people AREN’T getting their “just desserts”. What an oddball. Like Ayn Rand singing the virtues of egoistic (though, granted, not brutish) self-interest.
It’s like egoism is in the middle of a spectrum between self-hating (or other-loving) altruism and other-hating (self-loving) brutishness. Self=other is neither utilitarianism (group egoism) nor collectivism (anti-individualism).
“It’s kind of weird that Nietzsche painted forgiveness as revenge”
It can be granted with genuine compassion, but it still generates a debt in the receiver. Some people exploit this… those who are constantly reminding us “of that time when you x and then i forgave you… remember that”. These are the ones who cash in on that debt.
Forgiveness is a form of pardon of some violation, and when a pardon is made, when something is excused, the fact that this was granted rather than withheld is a favor… and that can and is used as currency. Also, when we forgive, we feel superior to the one forgiven. You could just punch the guy, but you don’t. You’re the better guy because you forfeit your right to avenge yourself of the thing he did and instead exercise that nobility of forgiveness. He is totally at your mercy. A mere subject. A peasant even, and you the stoic Aurelius.
The same could be said for doing someone a favor. That’s why some people don’t want any favors. They don’t want it to be held over their head. So I guess I can see and understand if that’s how Nietzsche felt about it if/because people actually treated him that way.
However, if some asshole is gonna gaslight me and tell me that he doesn’t have to forgive others (like his mom) just because I forgave him for the same damn thing, that’s his loss. Wallow in it, ya sloppy pig.
You use the word exist, which is a verb, to denote what something does outside of existence. But ‘outside of existence’ is not a place, since a place is something, not non-existent. Ascribing temporal parameters to something that doesn’t exist makes no sense. In fact, by ascribing parameters or characteristics, you are granting that these non-existent things are something and not nothing. Perhaps you have a different definition of existence? I define existence as everything that exists.
