After watching @Bob’s video about the death knell of the new atheism, I realized the harmonic triads are referred to as the three transcendentals.
I was not raised in that tradition. How come nobody has mentioned this to me? I had to glean it from what I was studying during my BA and nobody really talked about it. Probably because they would lose their jobs if they did, I’m guessing?
The only hint I had of it before getting my B.A. was “be do end” - which I gleaned from my ethics text (The Moral of the Story by Nina Rosenstand). It was not explicitly stated.

It’s not so much solely about a culture or tradition as it is about attending a Catholic/Christian school, where such knowledge is disseminated.

Why do we say "I’m afraid?
used to politely introduce bad news or disagreement: This is your room - it’s rather small, I’m afraid. I don’t agree at all, I’m afraid. I’m afraid you’ve completely misunderstood the question.
Such an olde English colloquialism, I know.
