The video is real footage. Contrary to conspiracy theorists, I fail to see what would be the purpose for faking a video like this. What would NASA, ie, the American government, gain with such fakery? Convincing people the earth is a globe? Why? For all people care, the earth could be a square!!
In “near space” (like near the ISS), Earth shouldn’t appear as a perfect sphere. The distance is too small to capture the whole planet as a round ball. You’d only see part of the sphere, not a complete circle. If a video shows Earth as a perfect sphere with a close-up astronaut and station, it’s likely manipulated or edited. The perspective just doesn’t match the actual distance.
We cannot capture the true shape of the Earth (as a geoid) in a single photograph from space. It’s impossible to take a shot from a close enough distance to fully capture the Earth’s true form. Images that show Earth as a sphere are either taken from a distance where Earth appears as a circle due to perspective or are computer-generated visualizations. The real shape of Earth, with its slight gravitational deviations (the geoid), cannot be seen from space in a single frame because the camera cannot be positioned at the right distance to capture the entire planet in that level of detail.
To stop this useless chatter, you need to demand a picture of the geoid. It does not exist and will not exist. This fact suggests that all the pictures of the planet are lies and computer graphics.
