All fall under it, & all will be shown mercy. But it isn’t mercy to leave us in our filth. All will be salted with fire. Will some still prefer the darkness after all that? We leave that in God’s hands unless he asks us to help him bring them/us back. How many ever times.
First ripple happened with the first sin. Poisoned it for all of us. And we just keep adding poison.
His love purifies. The fire is unpleasant as it purifies. But … it removes what is the root cause of death. We can drink from the well that never runs dry.
Every forgetting ends in remembering there is water, even in the midst of the fire.
The first sin was (is always) in the mind, actually—believing a lie about what God actually said. Sin is a privation of good.
If you believe in all the ancient narratives that include talking animals, and you believe the genesis narrative of the first sin, then the gut feeling you might get is why not be happy with the wide variety of good stuff… why be drawn to the one off-limits thing?
Answer: so that they would have a choice. So that they could learn what love is. So that they can learn they are loved despite their crap. We.
It ain’t about doing the right thing or avoiding the wrong thing. The law is just a tutor and only brings death because we are drawn to do what we’re not supposed to do. Love requires an overcoming of that weakness. His power is perfected in weakness. It’s about love despite circumstances.
“It is but a worthless and worldly conception of the dynamic of power that it is greater and greater in proportion as it can compel and make dependent. No, the art of true power is precisely to make free.” – Kierkegaard
“No. The first sin is not in the mind. It’s hurting something. Do you see where you’re going with this?”
…hurting something starts in the mind. Also you need to ask why the pain is being caused before you determine that the intention is sin (or something else). Sometimes you need to reset a broken leg…and if we never felt pain, we’d all get leprosy - or something.
“- It’s a sin to judge hurt.”
…says who? It’s only a sin to judge against that which you yourself do…or without mercy.
“(Privation of good) Sin is knowing you did something decent and feeling decent about doing that?!?! That’s sin?!?!”
Good is Golden Rule love — can be done regardless of how you feel about it — but, does scratch a “deeper” (higher) itch. Which you def have.
“There is no such thing as good in a cosmos where people are being violated.”
Oh my gosh. No real violation if there is no real good. Scratch that deeper itch!
Sex & marriage is good when God is the rock it is built on. Takes two with that foundation to tectonically make that work without leveling everything.
The people that make it work without that foundation are few and far between and don’t even ask me how that even works. They probably cheat somewhere. No doubt about it.
If hell is code-language for misery… that’s … super cute.
Like … Russel Crowe as John Nash cute. Like “all my reasons” cute. With an atomic chaser. Yeah, no. Let’s avoid hell, shall we?
