I must disagree. “George Washington is the president” was a factual statement only when George Washington was the president. Now, it may be eternally true that “George Washington was the president,” and if so (if there is eternity), that statement would be an eternal fact from the moment George Washington left office.

recall that light cannot escape from a black hole…it is stuck
within the black hole, unable to escape…how does light,
being stuck within a black hole, able to travel the speed of light?
or that all people die…which is a ‘‘fact’’ and yet, we actually
can’t be sure that ‘‘all people die’’ because we haven’t
and cannot ever go back into history and actually check if
everyone who has been born, has actually died…at best,
we can assume that everyone born as died, but we don’t
know for a ‘‘fact’’ that everyone has died that was born…
But Kropotkin, what about math, for example?
it is quite possible that what passes for math in our neighborhood,
our solar system or nearby, isn’t math at all in another solar
system or another galaxy…
The bottom line on ‘‘eternal’’ facts is that we can’t be sure if
those facts are universal, for everyone, or they are just facts within
our own neighborhood…to say math is eternal and universal,
is just an assumption…we can’t know for sure…
and this uncertainty leads us to doubt ‘‘facts’’ as we know
them…
