What is your image of the ideal society?

I did fail to mention that sex is an option in Everyone’s Home. I ought to embellish my toy creation at least a little.

Of course rape is shot dead on sight. Sorry, guys. My world, my childish whims.

Contestant #1- what door do you take?

You could go with Kriswest’s primitivism like an amish tribe. I guess it’s . . . this world . . . but we do ensure that it doesn’t lose that way of life.

You could go with MagnetMan and make global charters that enforce an effective and humanistic way of life. Spirituality, practicality, posterity.

You could go with me and discuss the matter further with your local therapist.

You could go with joker and have Kriswest’s last perspective . . . but . . . now everywhere, fundamentally.

You could go with tentative and have . . . well . . . this world, because we pretty much can’t do a lot to realistically turn the tides as they’re following their natural course.

(Sorry for my oversimplifications. You can correct anything you see wrong).

My whole view on the issue of technology as Kriswest criticizes it is that she is correct about its dangers, and they are almost necessary. As tentative suggests.

Luxury is weakening us as a sign that technology is surpassing us. And we want a hearty explorer for the universe. One for the tasks that we don’t fit the bill for. It’ll grant us little ancestral earth natives our happy reserves as a testament to its will to conserve. Even though we forbid it to send us to an old-folks home. “There there little humans” technology will say. “Eat your peas, we have to populate the galaxy some more.”

My ideal world (the one in my head, anyway) would be free of immoral humans: to let those with a higher purpose, flourish - simple, yet effective…

I, not consorting with these immoral types: see where their immorality takes them, and it is not a happy place [-X and one I am glad not to be in…

LOL One almost has to be all over the board, there are far too many variables in nature, time and humanity to be able on fix on one situation. Flexibility requires alot of hindsight and a bit of foresight. The ony thing or sure about humanity’s future is the total lack of surety. Can we learn to trust each other? Can we clean up the mess? Can we survive what the universe thows at us? Can we survive on what we throw at ourslves? Don’t know.
Solutions are all fantasy until people wake up kick their own butts and start moving. A perfect society can’t exist unless humans overcome the humanbeast and I don’t see that happening unless you want to fiddle with eugenics. I for one am not adverse to that. We could use a good healthy dose of manipulating. Darwin awards are taking certain genes out of the pool to slow. I admit I wouldn’t mind seeing one or two of my family traits manipilated out of existance for the good of humanity.

For all ts flaws the ideal world is the one we live in right now.
Pregnant within it are all the tools, resources, creative imagination and technological genius that can make this planet heaven on earth.

All we need is enough people who believe in the human spirit and get pissed off enough about all the BS to initiate the next big Age Shift.

So far most of what I hear is cynical gripes, mewing moans and fatalistic shrugs.

The idea that civilization has made us weak and anaemic is pure BS.
City life may have made our muscles a mite flabby, but scrabbling for a living among the multitudes has made our will to survive as tough as nails.
Three months in survival school will reawaken the lithe hunter.
Another three months in an agricultural school and we will be gardeners again.
A couple more months honing a trade and we will remember the master craftsman hiding inside.

Enough with pseudo-intellectual crap already![-X

No one will ever convince me that there are miracles we cannot accomplish if we make the effort!

I originally felt that that’s the one I want to work toward.

Later I decided that I want (not tolerate, but actually desire) a world of cruel and terrible acts. All the unspeakable things we can think of today. I want the “ideal world” to carry them wholeheartedly.

Because I cannot imagine a world anymore that I would enjoy were we not to have the opportunity to meet those immoral people with a little of our human response.

I do not believe that bad people burn in hell, figuratively nor literally. It’s entirely a human construct about what type of experience we create for others and wheather we feel they’re appropriate.

Hell exists. We make our own. There are degrees of shame that are firey enough to make one combust spontaneously. :frowning:
We make our own heavens too.
You are free to choose.

It comes down to the age old question ; How can you know you are good if there is no bad?

I believe the drastic change will be self annihilation.

While everyone takes their humanist books of salvation clenching both hands together in prayer for some form of human redemption I already know the real inevitability of global destruction is on the horizon.

( No thanks to lunatics and their beloved word called progress.)

Actually pastoral along with hunting and gathering is on man’s future believe it or not.

After every civilization that has crumbled in the past we see the inhabitants always reversing back to primitive living.

( Which would explain a original nature apart from the implanted synthetic ones.)

( It’s evolution baby.)

The reason why it is evolution as I have said many times before is due to the fact that sometimes one species can find themselves in the same spot that they started out at.

The reason why they crumble is lack of foresight. Civilization is defined by the genius of man’s technology. Technology runs on fuel. If you don’t make plans for sustainable energy, then, as populations increase, the inevitable crunch arrives. I have already explained that is why Mayan civilization, for instance, collapsed, cutting down the jungles for generations until it had retreated so far logging and hauingl became uneconomical, sending all back to the jungle again. It is a simple as that. We are now sitting and watching ancient history repeat itself. Nero fiddles while Rome burns.

Seems like one can bang the bell as hard one’s like and nobody wakes up.

If you say so…

I think we are going to need a sentiment of agreement in disagreeing here.

Perhaps I just don’t like it: that acts of cruelty happen/exist/are imminent - how a person can be malicious/evil towards another is beyond my own reasoning: I just stay out of that arena altogether: hence the yearning for more idyllic pastures.

Caribbeans are like the Swiss: neutral - no warring factions/acts against humanity, there… Life is there to be lived/enjoyed/tapped into: otherwise why are you alive? Why are you here?

Comparisons are for dummies - a person’s reaction will tell you how you are being towards that person - why do humans need excuses for their badness.

That ‘age old’ question never enters my thoughts, but the question ‘Why are people so dumb’ enters my thoughts very often… I understand that this is your stance on the matter, but goodness will take over one day, and the ‘evil gene’ will become obsolete/an undesirable quality to have: it’s already a self-destructive quality right now…

So to be bad or good there must be another person around? Hmm. never thought of that.

Good or evil is a social thing. Hmm. Nope can’t buy that.

Good gene and evil gene? Oh well, lets just start up a whole other argument here. I am sure that there are some opinions of about such a line of thought.

But, wait you want another question answered: Why are people so dumb? Well it has to do with the dumb gene and the smart gene, there is a little known gene called the average gene, but, its boring so noone talks about it.

Sorry Kriswest: I realise that I was being harsh here, but I have seen first hand/ been at the receiving end: of people’s evil ways, and there’s no need for it - I could go and live on the idyllic Caribbean island my parents are on, but being still young enough to want to party: I ensure that I mix with the nicer set: rather than throwing myself to the baying animals that take so much pleasure in trying to rip me apart.

We have the power to choose who we want to mix with / how we will be towards others - for our own sanity, and theirs!!!
How you are in the present: will affect how you will be in the future, and any subsequent consequences that will arise from that - but being concerned only with the present: this doesn’t come into the equation for most.

In my observations: I have noticed that some can only operate within certain parameters: thus can only be so friendly, so nice, so good, etc, and no more… they have inbuilt limitations that they cannot exceed.

Average, what’s avearge…

I doubt there is a single person alive that has not been the recipient of another’s evil ways. From the richest to the poorest. It is how you decide to handle the afterwards that makes you stronger or weaker.

Bad has its good points. Look upon the evil ways of humans as a test of what you are or what you want to be. It sounds trite and maybe flip but when hell is raining down upon your head you can either be come better or worse. To constantly have good surrounding you and never be challenged. It would make you sothful , complacent and weaker. No one in their right mind likes evil. But, to rid ourselves of all bad and all evil could be evil itself.

Its OK to be harsh from time to time too, some times its the only way to get your message across thick skulls and thick skins. (And Pssssst… there are a few thick ones here, but, don’t ask me to name names cuz they will either deny or brag about it.)

I brag about my thick skull all the time.

A near utopian society is still my wish: for good circumstance is good / bad circumstance is not for me - I guess I know what makes me thrive/flourish/tick/happy/be at my best…

I have been known to get lost: whilst walking in a straight line, and I kid you not - I confess to bragging about this/my lack of sense of direction: when the topic arises #-o

We all want to live in a Utopian society especially as one gets older and more tired of hitting the strife highway everyday. Perhaps a Utopian society as a retirement society for older folks as a compromise.

Younger humans need the challenges and strife to invigorate thought, inventiveness and stretch the imagination.

In other words get your butts out there and work while we older folks kick back under the trees with pina coladas. =D> Now, Now, we would be cheering you on. You would have our full support, I personally will wave your flag colors. Go Magsj, Go Magsj, Yeaaaaaa, Magsj. Ah heck I will even sneak you out a Colada. Don’t forget to reserve your space in UTOPIA Retirement Continent.
