This post pretty much typifies everything that is wrong with social media. This is a clip from an episode of Hogan’s Heroes. It was one of the more philosophical episodes. They all carried a message, but this one kind of shouted at you.
Schulz is asked why he mindlessly follows orders. It’s suggested that rather than blindly following orders as they are given, he should ask the person giving the order if he or she can perform the task for him or herself. If they answer, yes, he is advised to suggest that they jolly well do it for themselves.
Schulz points out the folly of such an action. “Zere vill be recriminations.”
There follows a period of comical persuasion. At some point, Socrates is mentioned. Socrates, you will recall, acknowledged the fact that he knew nothing. Eventually, Schulz, having been totally duped, is urged to employ the wisdom of Socrates. “You could put an end to the war.” he is told.
It does not go well! He is reprimanded and soon faces a trial, having been charged with insubordination. If found guilty he faces the death penalty.
Of course, he did not receive a death sentence. The ‘authorities’ establish the fact that Schulz was duped by a fast-talking American, perhaps Hogan himself. Following much mirth, Schulz returns to duty. The episode concludes with Schulz learning that Socrates was sentenced to death ‘for knowing nothing’. Big laughs. End.
Midwittery rules! If only everyone could unlock their inner Socrates - you know, admit they know nothing.

How exactly are you ‘doing philosophy’ and why on earth would you imagine that I am going to leave because you told me to? Narcissist much. So far on this site nearly all I’ve seen are screeds of ‘The Jews did it’ conspiracy filth and the disturbed ravings of schizophrenics. Oh,and lots of one sentence posts followed by a clownface. And there’s no way around it. First, the attempt to argue that it’s impossible to ask for consent first:
If god had to ask you first, you would have had to exist. If you existed and were being asked by god, you would know god exists. If you knew god existed, there would be no purpose for faith.
But wait. Why is having faith important? In fact, it even seems to be an inferior way of achieving the end… which is choosing god and good over evil, etc.
Nothing about whether or not you choose good over evil has any bearing on whether or not you know god exists or don’t and just have faith that’e does. Think about it. If god came down and said YO check this out, you would be in the same position: choose god’s side or not. What makes your decision different when made only from a position of faith?
One argues, “but you can’t be made to choose god… you have to take a radical leap of faith.” But even if i knew god existed, i still wouldn’t be forced to choose em.
So we can find no logical reason for god staying hidden, as it were. If god exists, he knows this, too. If he knows this, he must recognize the needlessness of faith. Faith wouldn’t be a necessary feature of being good.
Jeez, this means that we may not know what god is, but we certainly now know what god isn’t; christian, muslim, or jewish.

I don’t know why people say ‘she’ when they talk about the God character in the bible, as if they are being terribly ‘progressive and feminist’. God is an entitiled , self-absorbed narcissist, like pretty much every bog-standard adult human male. They are welcome to HIM. HE was also a profilic child-killer and relished the task.
Yeah, it’s not like a one world government is apart of the Jewish Talmud or rabbinical writings whatsoever. To point that out is antisemitic along with any mention of Noahide Laws.

Which was written ‘when’ (if it’s even there)? I’m sure it talks about ‘one world government’ in the Talmud. That sounds just like the way people talked thousands of years ago

Believe it or not as Buddhists we’re allowed to have our own individual opinions and perceptions in the world. I am sure you’ll find that to be a radical concept to grasp.
