In case some of you do not know, my posts and responses have been changing in their moods & qualities very rapidly. The reasons for this are very complex, but also very simple. So, I shall give you the simple reason:
I am quickly approaching a time in my life where I am no longer a pupil to others–people have nothing to teach me. How is this possible? It is possible, because I have spent my entire life so far listening to what other people & the world have had to say to me. I have spent my life learning. The neurological connections inside my head remained open, due to my intellectual willpower, but now they are finally closing. I finally have “things to say”. All that I can tell you for now is that I believe I have something worth saying. Whether you have faith/trust in me or not is inconsequential to my purposes; I am going to change the world.
With these things said, I would like to leave you with a gift (for the present moment). I believe I have unlocked a great deal of philosophical secrets, set forth by Socrates-himself.
Philosophy lived and died with him. Yet, it shall be reborn through me (and perhaps you if you know how to listen).

Unoriginal, I’m sick of this. All you do is post here. You don’t post coherently (I can’t understand what you’re trying to say), and sometimes, like this time, your posts don’t have any perceivable content aside from updates on your life’s journey, which mainly consist of “I’m still here! I think big thoughts! I might tell them to you someday! Notice me!” I mean seriously, you never get into any discussions with anyone, never let anyone have a chance to disprove your erroneously held views. You just clutter up the boards with the same stuff day in, day out, repeating garbled nonsense that must be very important to you because you’ve already posted about it in at least 20 other threads that are practically the same. When I try to fix your thinking, you say that what I think doesn’t matter. How is that “listening”? How is that “open”?
Let me ask you, have you read The Republic? Have you read a Critique of Pure Reason? Can you even name their authors without going to google (don’t cheat you dishonest crumb)? What about A Treatise Concerning the Principles of Human Knowledge? I’m not saying that these writings are necessarily correct, but just because they’re incorrect doesn’t mean nothing can be learned from them.
It’s ironic that you should post that Socrates quote. Frankly, you don’t know anything, and that’s how it’s going to be forever, because you’re closing your mind prematurely.
Those who are truly smart don’t learn and then teach, they do both at the same time. They are always learning.
I hear alot of unwarented arrogance in here. Your not as smart as you think you are, your not the next socrates, people have come up with your ideas before, and they have been refuted just as quickly. What you have come here with are points of view that but a few agree with, as for your quotes from socrates.
Though there is alot to be learned from the first you must also apreciate that the statment is a contradiction and cannot be an objective truth.
The second I would disagree with also, as an unexamined life is often “lived” alot more
Don’t get me wrong Socrates is one of my favorate philosophers, though he was human asnd so not perfect. What I dispise though, is when people compare themselves to the greats like this. Pull your head out of your own arse.
There are many way to make illusion of self-worth/dignity.
One way is using the (imaginary) value of other person, and becoming self-appointed representative of her/him.
If “philosophy” is still alive among many many person, the (imaginary) value of unlocking the (imaginary) secret is less important.
So, it’s pretty convenient to believe like that. Typical wishful self delusion.

There is a definite pecking order and somewhat of a stigma concerning various areas of philosophy

No, I came to this thread because otherwise Unoriginal is going to go on thinking his secret thoughts in his secret hole until the end of his life, and he will regret that and feel sad. I came to this thread because you and Unorignal and Joker all post tons of worthless crud that clutters these forums. I’m not saying that your ideas are worthless, don’t take this the wrong way. What I’m saying is, you don’t post your goddamn ideas, you post content-free threads like this one, and like yours on Ben’s farewell, and like Joker’s. When you do post your ideas, all you do is postulate postulate postulate, but never do you provide any argument for your position, that could then be discussed and refuted. Never do you write, “and here’s reasons #1, #2, and #3 for this belief” Its bloody masturbation, and I’m sick of it! I can’t take it anymore!
I ask again, what is there to post about? What is the purpose of the thread? From what I can see, the purpose is to scream “I’m still here! I’m still smart! Notice me!”. Look at what he’s written. Where’s the proposition? Where’s the conclusion? This isn’t philosophy, this is a diary entry!

even if it is so, why do you hate on someone for sincerety? i think that someone should be encouraged when they have large desires, and i also think over confidence is a must.
