I was joking. It’s one of the biggest mysteries whether or not we can influence the unknown parts of the future, present and past, using our attention, our imagination. Parts of the world that aren’t fixed yet, that could still go 2 or more different ways, that are still in a superposition from our perspective. I’m always trying to investigate this possibility too. Maybe there is some truth to prayer, and the law of attraction, and so on, when it comes to influencing events that we can’t yet know for certain how they will unfold / how they have unfolded.
But whether or not there is something to this, what we can’t do is that we can’t change what is already established. A potato is already established as a potato. Even if we could put the whole thing into superposition (which we totally can’t do because it’s way too big), we couldn’t get a Ferrari out of it. At best we would get a potato that got deformed at a quantum level (that you probably wouldn’t want to eat). The real world could be more flexible than “matter” but less flexible than “mind”.
I addressed the issue of the universe being a “dream” taking place inside the mind of a higher being in the following (short) YouTube segment taken from episode 4 of my video lecture series that aired on Grand Rapids, Michigan, Public Access Television for 7 years back in the 90s…
I think that ^^^that^^^ particular episode first aired in 1995 (31 years ago, back when I had hair - which has long since flew the coop ).
If nothing else, to get an idea of just how long I’ve been a full-blown nutjob, just go back another 25 years prior to the taping of that episode and you’ll arrive at the moment when my alleged Burning Bush-like encounter with God took place,…
…or, as Gary Childress will insist, the moment I “lost touch with reality”* via some sort of mundane type of psychosis that he and millions of others have routinely experienced. …
… - (there’s nothing to see here folks, move along) -
*(I would never deny that possibility, however, I sure would like to see Gary take a crack at describing what he thinks “reality” actually is?)
You are not a nutjob. If anyone has ever claimed that, then it’s most likely because they are not capable of pondering what you are positing.
I don’t often ponder dreams, I always just thought it was the minds way of addressing stuff on it’s own terms, some kind of untangle and sort, make sense of. Maybe there’s much more.
“However, whatever it is, it will be the same context in which God, our ultimate parent and sibling interacts with and senses the reality of his essence, which forms our Universe”.
“Now consider the fact, that if the reality that you have created in your own subjective consciousness feels objectively real to you, after billions of years of your existence giving order to that reality, then just imagine how real it will feel to your embryonic offspring conceived within you as they mentally interface with the reality that you have created for them in order to give them life.”
I suggest that you think of your dreams as being a “precursory glimpse” of the vast potential of your mind - a potential that will be fully revealed to you after awakening into full-consciousness (as I stated in the video) - “post-partum” from God.
That kind of reminds me of something I once heard Terence McKenna say in one of his recorded (rambling) talks:
“…Thought cannot go where the roads of language have not been built…”
Thank you, Niall.
And speaking of me being accused of being a “nutjob” because the accusers are indeed incapable of pondering what I am positing, you have, once again, reminded me of something.
This time it is of a dual cartoon I created to call attention to that very issue…
I’m not particularly looking forward to waking up that much, bit of a shock to the system I suspect.
What if someone doesn’t necessarily think using language or even imagery? What if all of their thoughts needed to be translated first? Does it mean thought has nowhere to go unless that road is there?
And more of your cartoons too. All this for free, on the internet. It’s a wonderful place to be.
Needless to say, we’re dealing in metaphysical speculation here, but I suggest that the “shock” you are worried about is going to be quite pleasant.
I realize that what I am about to copy and paste is something I’ve already posted in an alternate thread almost a year ago, but seeing how I highlighted the irony implicit in my “Oakley the Acorn” cartoon, I would like to add to that my “Oh the Irony” soap opera in order to consolidate the two offerings in this thread…
Episode one:
Welcome to this first episode of - “Oh the Irony” - brought to you by the makers of Remington rifles.
< cue the organ music…
In this initial episode of - “Oh the Irony” - we are listening to the unborn Swanson twins, telepathically communicating with each other while still in their mother’s womb:
Twin one: “I wonder what mom looks like?”
Twin two: “What mom? I don’t see any mom around here.”
Twin one: “But I can somehow sense her presence.”
Twin Two: “That’s just your imagination playing tricks on you. There is no mom.”
Twin one: “But…”
Twin two: “There are no buts about it. The only things that exist are the two of us, this watery substance, and that impenetrable barrier that surrounds us. So, tell me, genius, where is this mom you speak of? Prove her existence to me.”
Twin one: “How can I prove her existence to you?”
Twin two: “If this imaginary “mom” truly exists, then why doesn’t she reveal herself to us?”
Twin one: “I don’t know why. Perhaps she has a good reason?”
Twin two: “You’re insane. Again, there is no mom. Trust me because I am way smarter than you because I rely on the obvious truth and facts.”
Twin one: “Well, can we at least agree to disagree?”
Twin two: “No! You are clearly a victim of wishful thinking. Again, trust me when I say - there is no mom!!!”
Tune in tomorrow for another exciting episode of - “Oh the Irony” - brought to you by the makers of Tide laundry detergent (“…for those pesky blood stains…”), and Schlitz beer…
In this second installment of - “Oh the Irony” - we rejoin the unborn Swanson twins still carrying on their telepathic conversation in the dark and watery world of their mother’s womb…
Twin one: “I know you think I’m imagining things, but not only do I still believe that there exists a “mom,” but I am now starting to think that there exists a higher dimension of reality on the other side of the great barrier that surrounds us.”
Twin two: “What in the world are you going on about now?”
Twin one: “I know this’ll sound crazy, but a little while ago, I pressed my ear against the barrier, and I thought I heard a voice singing to me from the other side.”
Twin two: “Oh my poor little delusional sibling. How many times do I have to point out to you that logic dictates that you, and me, and this closed watery world is all there is?”
Twin one: “Would you please stop being so obstinate and just press your ear against the great barrier. I’m sure I can hear and sense something on the other side.”
Twin two: "No! I absolutely refuse to be drawn into the world of your insane delusions. Again, you idiot, there is no “mom” and there is no higher dimension of reality on the other side of the great barrier. Stop making a fool of yourself!!!"
Tune in again tomorrow for more of the quarreling Swanson twins in another exciting episode of - “Oh the Irony” - brought to you by the makers of the new THC infused (“…life is but a dream…”) Moon Pies…
Welcome back to this third episode of - “Oh the Irony” - where after nine months of telepathically arguing with each other, the Swanson twins’ world is about to undergo a dramatic change…
Twin one: Are you blind? All of that watery substance that surrounded us has drained out through that tiny opening in the all-encompassing barrier. And look, the opening seems to be a narrow tunnel leading to some kind of light.
Twin two: Right, and I suppose that tunnel leads to that higher dimension of reality and the invisible “mom” you mentioned a while back? You delusional idiot, how many times do I have to tell you that there is no higher dimension of reality? Now go back to sleep.
Twin one: You go back to sleep. I’m going to investigate that tunnel.
Twin two: Fine. Good luck getting your big fat head through that skinny little opening in order to investigate some silly fantasy you’ve dreamed up. I, on the other hand, being the wisest of the two of us, am staying right here where things are real. Humpff!!!,..a “tunnel leading to a light” and a nonexistent “mom.” How in the world is that knucklehead my twin?
And thus ends another episode of - “Oh the Irony” - brought to you by the makers of the morning after pill (“…because I’m just too busy enjoying the gift of life…”), and the health-conscious makers of Embassy cigarettes…
I’m going to have to look through your threads seeds. Stuff like that is brilliant to me. I love creative writing, and very much appreciate it in others, that story is loaded with metaphor, but is also a good wee story in itself and well told.
I don’t see how it can be, to be exposed to ultimate truth like that after being fully ignorant, probably dormant is a better word, for a while. But that’s obviously also just speculation, it’s impossible to know in this state.
“…don’t be overwhelmed by the size of the universe, for you see, from a certain perspective, our minds are the same size as the universe. Where we diverge from God is in the realm of order taking place within our minds…”
(Note: If you get nothing else from this post, you’ve got to at least appreciate the amusing visual parallel between the walnut and the human brain.)
Also, you can access all of the book’s illustrations on my website at the following link…
…You just need to scroll down to the bottom where there is a big box that contains numerous links to them. And you are certainly welcome to copy and save any of them that might pique your interest (I think there might be somewhere around 120 of them in the book).
No need for any sort of barter, I’ve given many of them away to kindred spirits who seem genuinely interested is my ideas. But like I said, I’ll look into sending it off in the post. It’s just that I have a sneaking suspicion that it might be quite (too) pricey to send it from Michigan to the UK.
Also about the size of the universe, it is good to remember that size is entirely relative. There is no such thing as big or small, only bigger and smallerthan. To an entity, mind or other existing thing roughly on the same size scale as the universe, the universe itself is not big at all. To an ant, a human is very big. To a microbe in the dirt, you are even bigger. To planet earth, you are very tiny indeed.
This is how I make sense of the idea that if we were to get larger and larger, or smaller and smaller, eventually we would reach a new universe on scale with the one we know. This makes logical sense to me because of the fact that size is not real (objective). If size is 100% relative just like how Einstein showed that velocity and time are 100% relative (they are), then it makes logical sense for there to be countless universes “above” and “below” our own, if indeed we could make ourselves large or small enough to enter their relatively more macro or micro scale compared to our own.
Do you think time passes differently at different scales? I mean, a second for a pigeon is longer than a second for me, I saw one lazily step out of the way of an oncoming car the other day.. are size and time relative? What about when we get down to the subatomic scale? Is the Planck length just the lower limit for us because we exist at the scale we do and can’t experience or measure time any differently?
Actually, the scientific point is that time is experienced differently at different speeds. The faster you move, the slower the time passes for you. The GPS is a good example of Einstein’s special theory of relativity. The clocks on satelites related to GPS are fixed appropriately to account that they tick slower compared to stationary clocks on Earth, resulting in a decrease of approximately 7 microseconds per day.
The time dilatation becomes important for relatively high speeds, comparable to the speed of light.
If we manage to create extremely high speed spaceships, we can travel very long distances and still remain young. Everything related to us (including our body, heart etc.) will accommodate to the new “time reality“.
