Pascal's Wager really is a great argument

I don’t think Pascal’s wager has anything to do with fire insurance. I think it is more along the lines of … If there is ultimate significance that can’t be discovered (or appreciated as not forced on you) unless you look for it … Do you wanna try & find out what it is (with the potential that you’ll find out it is nothing)… or do you wanna just go la la la la la for the rest of your life and bump around like nothing matters, and miss it for sure?

Great point.

It’s an existentialist risk-reward scenario.

That hunger (anxiety) for meaning doesn’t make sense (is absurd) if there isn’t anything to satisfy it.

Are you a theist?

Christian, yes.

What denomination?

…all denominations who agree on the essentials, allow freedom on the non-essentials, and practice charity in all things.

Amen.

What type of church do you attend?

I go with what works with my schedule, and wherever my family goes. and preferably where they don’t run up and down the aisles and speak in gibberish.

Where did you attend the past month?

I didn’t. My schedule does not permit. The last time I sort of went was from home with my parents, catching it on the livestream. But that doesn’t feel like actually going (neither does community group, which is hard to do with my schedule…but probably needs to happen), and the livestream doesn’t always work.

I have considered going other than on a Sunday morning. The church my family attends doesn’t have anything other than on a Sunday morning.

I’ve been thinking about it, but I’m really good at just thinking. So good, in fact, I often overthink.

How about yourself?

I’ve only been to Catholic Church once. Wasn’t really my cup of tea.

I’ve been listening to this. It’s pretty good and related to Pascal’s Wager.

St. Alfonzo’s Pancake Breakfast from the gospel of Zappa is much better.
