So we’re not life, we’re the products of life (we just participate in it— and by that we don’t mean participating in the form of it), and so are not a “random process that has been slowly evolving for the last couple billions of years”— because that (which is bigger than us) will continue on even if all of us die.

If you mean ‘value’ by ‘meaning’, then life is the source of values. It’s only to a living thing that things have value. If you mean purpose, then life is its own purpose. It’s an end in itself.
