Now that I know Asmongold angers and frustrates @Flannel_Jesus …I’m going to Asmon for a lot more content from here on out!
asmond in particular doesn’t frustrate me, the fact that you let other people speak for you on a forum for philosophy is what frustrates me. you can’t be assed to just write what you think, you have to let some bum speak for you. learn to express yourself.
and please don’t come in with the expectation that other people watch 2 hours of content that you like. It’s ridiculous, and if you keep doing that crap, letting other people speak for you and then getting shitty when other people don’t want to watch 2 hours of someone else’s opinion, my frustrations with you will come to a head eventually.
I would like to ask your opinion, @Flannel_Jesus.
For me, certain topics on the board have a “flavour”, for example this one:
It has mostly turned into opinionated banter (sometimes perhaps irrelevant or silly) about current events, but I personally think it is quite important as it represents a record of what is happening, both in the markets and geopolitically. Of course we’re not experts, but hey, sometimes the only way to learn is to dive into the water and try to swim.
Then there’s this thread, where I had the honest intention of discovering new sources of news relating to current events, but I got a bit frustrated and started posting a flood of links to songs, I figured at least there might be something someone liked. Now I’m using it to post links to sources of information that I found relevant, but little personal commentary is provided, do you think there should be more commentary?
Then there’s this thread:
I got into a discussion with @Peter_Kropotkin, which I enjoyed, but then I posted a link to an irrelevant video, and he pointed out that he didn’t think it belonged there. I thought, you know, you’re right, so I removed the video and also an image that I had posted in response to @Ichthus77, as I started to wonder whether that was also irrelevant too. I can see why too much media without commentary is counterproductive.
So I guess my question is, do you think that it’s acceptable for some threads to contain a lot of linked media, where perhaps others should not? My plan for the future is to try to avoid linking to media in threads that are discussion heavy, but then post links in threads where that’s more the “flavour” of things.
What do you think?
.
..the same as Your and Carleas’ moderation of those who have been incessantly trolling me for years has made me feel.
.
Suck it up, buttercup.
This is a philosophy forum. It’s important that posters (a) express their thoughts, and (b) at least usually in a way that affords conversation.
A post that’s just a link to a 2 hour video, not to your thoughts but to some random different person on the internet, does neither of those.
Links can obviously be central to a conversation. “I think such-and-such based on this well established fact, here’s a link to a study to justify this well-established fact” – fine. But when you use videos INSTEAD of expressing your thoughts, jesus just quit, go to facebook.
And just, seriously, why post a video of some random dudes opinion on some events? Just say your opinion. Who the fuck cares about that guy’s opinion, he’s not on the board. That doesn’t afford a conversation because he, the person with the opinion, isn’t even here to discuss his opinion. Express your own ideas please! Everyone.
I can’t go back to Facebook, my family won’t allow me on there anymore. ![]()
But thanks for your honest response, personally I will take it onboard.
That wasn’t at you, but at people who post videos of other people’s opinion instead of writing their own opinion. Those people are treating this forum like it’s Facebook. This isn’t Facebook, this is a philosophy discussion forum.
4 posts were split to a new topic: Magsj doesn’t like something
If anyone is wondering about this, it’s because I’m not only obviously quite opinionated, but I used to drink, a lot. It wasn’t a good mix and I became a source of embarrassment for a while..
I don’t drink anymore, but I’m still very opinionated–I’m never giving up that shit, so it’s probably best for me to stay off Facebook.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This is how stupid they are, how drunk they are on algorithms and control:
TikTok said Thursday that the joint venture will “operate under defined safeguards that protect national security through comprehensive data protections, algorithm security, content moderation, and software assurances for U.S. users,” with its content recommendation algorithm stored with Oracle.
TikTok is vital to them, because it’s frequented by the younger generations. All those pliable minds, eh? The actual value or yield of the platform is largely irrelevant, it’s the users they want their hands on.
But their “comprehensive data protections”, “algorithm security” and “content moderation” basically equates to controlling the dialogue, using the algorithms to either surreptitiously silence or promote content as seen fit. It will also be a paid actor and bot paradise. AI gen content will be even more rife than it is now.
The reason they are completely fucking stupid, is that they think they can perform this David Copperfield trick without those young people noticing anything is amiss, that they will assume the inevitable flood of pro Israel, pro war and anti China / Russia / Iran content is entirely natural and just a sign of the times, and the fact that previously expressed dissent is disappearing is also natural. That is why they are going to fail, I’ve spoken to that generation, and they know exactly what is going on there.
Fucking ghouls they are, warn your kids.

What happened Germany? Did the drugs wear off and now your dealer has stopped answering the phone?
Anyway, giving the weasel credit for that move is a bit unrealistic, I would be guessing the true culprits were a flotilla of marine mammals from across the ocean, as I did from the very start.
Moscow has repeatedly expressed deep skepticism over Berlin’s version of the Nord Stream events, saying that a small group of saboteurs could not have executed such a sophisticated operation in NATO-controlled waters without direct state assistance. Russian President Vladimir Putin and other officials have previously pointed the finger at the US as the possible culprit.
No. Shit. Sherlock.
Zelensky is being cut loose, even by Europe now. I only hope that when he is, the surviving Ukrainians are there to grab him before he scurries off to his villa in Italy or whatever else he owns. It’s hard to find out exactly what he owns by searching the heavily censored internet in the west, but he also has property in the UK, that’s for sure. Maybe they can extract the billion+ he personally stole from his “allies”, who knows? Then, whatever they do to him, will be completely warranted, although I’m sure it won’t be televised
He is just as guilty of genocide as Netanyahu, I hope the Ukrainians really go town on him.

We now take a short break from being pissed off with a musical interval:
He spelled his name wrong. Has anyone seen the movie? My sister said it was quite good.
